On October 11, Bridgestone (China) Investment Co., Ltd. successfully held its "Green Computer Classroom" donation and regeneration ceremony in Shanghai. The event brought together donor representatives and Bridgestone Shanghai employees to contribute to the cause of digital education and sustainable development.
"Bridgestone · Green Computer Classroom" is one of the important measures to implement its corporate social responsibility in China, by collecting old computers from the group, partners and society, providing modern learning tools for students in remote areas of China, and promoting educational equity and sustainable digital education development. The Bridgestone · Green Computer Classroom program won the Gold Award for "Excellence in Cultural Education Delivery" at the 16th Global Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental, Social and Governance Summit and Awards in 2024. Since its first launch in 2021, it has built green computer classrooms for 5 primary schools, donated a total of 534 computers, benefited more than 3,000 teachers and students, and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 117.9 tons.
In August this year, the 4th "Bridgestone Green Computer Classroom Love Recruitment Order" was officially launched, and under the strong call of Bridgestone, all factories, branches, partners and social followers worked together to receive a total of 246 computer donations, which achieved fruitful results. About 50% of these computers have been certified by professional organizations to be regenerated and recycled. At the event, Bridgestone representatives donated all the computers to Shanghai Zhonggu Charity Youth Development Center (hereinafter referred to as "Zhonggu Charity") and received the honorary certificate issued by it. In addition, volunteers from Bridgestone and representatives of donation suppliers and Chinese charity staff worked together to disassemble and recycle the donated computers to extend the service life of the computers. After the recycling, the computers will be donated to primary schools in remote areas to build green computer classrooms and help promote and popularize sustainable digital education in the local area.
