Xinken Lotus Root New Variety Screening Pilot Area is located in Jiuyong and a half, Nansha District, covering an area of about 10 acres, the Science and Technology Institute has extensively collected and introduced 6 high-quality germplasm resources from Hubei, Guangxi, Guangdong and other places, and protected the high-quality germplasm resources of Xinken Lotus Root through zoning planning, introduction and replanting, field experiments and other measures, and helped Xinken Lotus Root to improve quality and efficiency.
Located in the Nansha base of Guangzhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the new cultivar purification and rejuvenation area of Xinken lotus root is located in the Nansha base of Guangzhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the high-quality varieties with the most characteristic characteristics of Xinken lotus root are selected to carry out purification and rejuvenation work. Through the establishment of the original seedling breeding base, the science and technology courtyard regulates field measures such as light, temperature, water and fertilizer to help Xinken lotus root effectively express its dominant traits.
The Xinken Lotus Root New Variety Demonstration and Promotion Area is located in Qiyongban, Nansha District, covering an area of about 70 acres, through the "company + farmer" type construction model, planting 50 acres of Xinken Lotus Root, 10 acres of Elian 12, and 10 acres of Elian 13, respectively, to guide the high-quality development of the lotus root industry through demonstration and promotion.
"The Science and Technology Courtyard has collected 2 varieties of Xinken lotus root and 5 newly introduced varieties that are circulating in bulk in the current market, and provided practical and effective data support for the promotion of efficient cultivation technology, the screening of optimal traits and the formulation of local standards for the efficient cultivation technology of Xinken lotus root, the selection of optimal traits and the formulation of local standards through on-site visits to the planting base, appearance evaluation of Xinken lotus root, quality evaluation, and quality experimental analysis." The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Academy of Agricultural Sciences said that the Science and Technology Institute also carried out research on the rapid propagation technology of Xinken lotus root seedlings, selected healthy, pest-free lotus root seedlings, and used tissue culture technology, especially lotus root tip culture technology to cultivate detoxified seedlings and shoot tip culture seedlings of lotus root, injecting new vitality into scientific research for the expansion and quality maintenance of Xinken lotus root, and providing new ideas and new directions for root reproduction.
At the same time, the Science and Technology Academy invited Li Haitang, a senior agricultural technical instructor, to carry out a training course on "Xinken Lotus Root High-yield and High-quality Cultivation and Management Technology" for local farmers in Nansha.
