As an important province in the southwestern region of the People's Republic of China, Yunnan Province has vigorously developed internationally in recent years on the basis of the country's free trade pilot area and the important composition of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and has become a major economic and trade province in the country, known as the "kingdom of animals and plants" and one of the important birthplaces of human civilization.
However, in the last century, China's Yunnan has always been extremely backward and poor, until after the reform and opening up, under the vigorous transformation of the Communists at that time, Yunnan was able to get rid of poverty and enter the stage of the world economy in the following few decades.
Yunnan's achievements today are inseparable and important to the Communist Party members who went to Yunnan to carry out construction work at that time, and Comrade Liu Minghui, who has dedicated nearly thirty years in Yunnan, is one of them. He served as vice governor of Yunnan Province, became a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee at the age of 40, and died at the age of 96.

In 1914, Liu Minghui was born in Shicheng County, Jiangxi Province, a poor peasant family, although Liu Minghui was poor as a teenager, he often worked hard to contact advanced progressive ideas, deeply believed in the communist revolutionary road, and joined the Chinese Communist Youth League early to publicize the progressive ideas of socialism in Shicheng County.
In the spring of 1929, the main force of the Red Fourth Army came to Luotian Village in Dayu Township, Shicheng County, and after a meeting with the local revolutionary activists in Luotian Village, the head of the Red Fourth Army at that time decided to establish a temporary group of the Communist Party of China, which was expanded into the Luotian Township Party Branch of the Communist Party of China in January of the following year, which was the first party branch in Shicheng County.
Liu Minghui was very excited when he learned of the news that the Red Army had come to Shicheng County, and he was ready to pack his bags and bid farewell to his parents to join the Red Army, but Liu Minghui's father had to temporarily shelve his plan to join the army and take care of the crops at home until 1933, when Liu Minghui joined the Communist Party under the guidance of the Luotian Township Party Branch, the first party branch in Shicheng County.
After Liu Minghui joined the Red Army, he was assigned to the third battalion and seven companies of the Fifth Red Army as an instructor, and at the same time was responsible for the company's protection work.
In September 1933, the Kuomintang mobilized nearly one million troops to begin a large-scale encirclement and suppression of the base areas of the Central Red Army, and since then the Red Army has begun a year-long struggle against encirclement and suppression, and in April 1934, the Kuomintang troops concentrated their forces on attacking Guangchang, which as the northern main road of the Central Soviet Region, its strategic position is very important.
At that time, Liu Minghui's Red Fifth Army also participated in the defense war, and with the mutual cooperation of the Red First Army and the Red Third Army, it repelled several enemy attacks, and finally held out for nearly eighteen days.
At this time, the main central Red Army decided to carry out a strategic shift in order to preserve its strength and began the Long March.

In October 1934, Liu Minghui set out with the Central Red Army on the Long March, in order to get rid of the pursuit of the Kuomintang troops, they often continued to march day and night, the soldiers were very tired, sometimes encountered some small trenches and other obstacles, they would even fall into it and fall asleep, until the soldiers who followed behind woke up and continued to climb up and advance.
At this time, Liu Minghui's unit faced four blockade lines:
The first blockade line began in Anyuan and Xinfeng, using the Taojiang River as a barrier blockade, stretching for hundreds of kilometers to Ganzhou and Nankang;
The second blockade line was at Shaoguan, where the Nationalist army pursued it with two columns and intercepted it with three divisions;
The third blockade line is between Liangtian and Yizhang on the Hunan border of the Cantonese-Han Railway;
The fourth blockade line is the Xiang River.
The main force of the Red Army spent nearly two months successfully breaking through the three blockade lines, and when it broke through the fourth blockade line, it fell into difficulties; after Liu Minghui's Red Fifth Army covered the main Red Army to cross the river with the strength of all its troops, it finally broke through this fourth road after five days and five nights of hard work, and after this battle, the Red Army sacrificed tens of thousands of comrades.
After the victory in the Battle of Sidu Chishui, the Red Army entered the Songming area under the guise of pretending to attack Kunming and then went straight down the Jinsha River, and after nine days and nine nights, most of the Red Army's troops successfully passed through the Jinsha River.
Liu Minghui, who was in the cover unit, only began to cross the river in the last few days, and the words of Comrade Liu Minghui, the chief of staff at the time, encouraged the comrades to constantly impress Liu Minghui and strengthened Liu Minghui's will to persist.
After the Central Red Army entered the first snowy mountain on the Long March, the soldiers encountered serious challenges: most of the uniforms were damaged and could not be repaired, and because of the hasty transfer, there were few winter coats.
Liu Minghui had his own set of cotton clothes at that time, but he was reluctant to wear them himself, preferring to cross the snowy mountains by himself, and also to give the cotton clothes to those soldiers who were sick and weak, although the soldiers climbed the mountain on foot every day, although it was very hard, but the friendship of the revolution was getting deeper and deeper.
When climbing to less than a kilometer from the summit, one of the deputy squad leaders of Liu Minghui's company suddenly cramped and could not move, and Liu Minghui helped the deputy squad leader to his mule, while he dragged the mule's tail and let the mule drag himself.
In the end, with their tenacious will and touching revolutionary friendship, they successfully passed through the Daxue Mountain, and soon after passing through the Daxue Mountain, Liu Minghui's Red Fifth Army immediately began to move north without a moment's rest after receiving instructions from the central authorities, while the north side at that time was an endless Songpan meadow.
At this time, Liu Minghui, who was already a commissioner of the Fifth Red Army, did not hesitate at all, prepared dry food for the march, and set off with the soldiers.
In order to survive, the soldiers dug wild vegetables, ate grass roots, nibbled on tree bark, and some even cooked their leather belts and boots.
In such a harsh environment, Liu Minghui often distributed his food to the wounded, and also killed the mule that had accompanied him for many years to the warriors, and finally they walked out of the grass with great perseverance to overcome countless death threats.
Liu Minghui later recalled the Long March and once said: "For the revolutionary cause of communism, the communists have a lofty spirit of firmness and incomparable loyalty, and a heroic spirit of not being afraid of hardship, courage to struggle, and sacrifice.

After the tempering of the Long March, Liu Minghui's revolutionary will was incomparably firm, and during the subsequent eight-year War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he resisted various sweeps by the Japanese army at The Taihang Mountains, and participated in the famous "Hundred Regiments War" and many other battles in history.
At the end of April 1942, Okamura Ningji, commander of the Japanese army invading China in North China, invaded Dezhou, and he frantically ordered nearly 30,000 Japanese puppet troops to carry out a large-scale sweep against the Japanese base areas.
After that, Liu Minghui was assigned as the political commissar of the Brigade Headquarters of the Second Field Army and the head of the regimental headquarters, and successively participated in the battles of Jin, Hebei, Lu, Yu and other district departments, and Liu Minghui was present in many famous battles such as the Battle of Handan, the Battle of Longhai, the Battle of Huaihai, and the Battle of Crossing the River.
After the founding of New China in 1949, Liu Minghui joined the army in the southwest and embarked on the road to liberate the southwest, and in the five years of the southwest Chongqing area, he successively served as the director of the Chongqing Municipal Military Control Commission, the Minister of Public Security of the Military Control Commission, the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, and the chief procurator of the Chongqing Municipal People's Procuratorate.
In August 1954, Liu Minghui was transferred to Yunnan by the central government to carry out work, after which Liu Minghui dedicated everything to Yunnan, in order to make Yunnan society progress, all ethnic groups can unite as one, and the frontier can be stable, he left the second half of his life to Yunnan.
After Liu Minghui arrived in Yunnan, he was deeply moved by this southwest territory of the motherland, and after he became a member of the Standing Committee of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee at the age of 40, he often set strict demands on himself in the style of the Long March period, dedicated all his energy to Yunnan, and was committed to reviving this land that had been silent for too long and liberating the toiling masses in Yunnan.
Since entering Yunnan, Liu Minghui has served in many important positions such as vice governor of Yunnan Province, and has his own views on the development of Yunnan, during which he has personally visited villages in Yunnan many times to check the people's livelihood and find ways to make Yunnan rich and strong.
In 1978, with the reform and opening up of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Liu Minghui was finally officially appointed governor of Yunnan Province after serving as vice governor of Yunnan Province for twenty-four years.
Relying on the support of the national policy of reform and opening up, Liu Minghui, as the governor of the province, took the lead in vigorously developing people's livelihood, and finally opened up the door and road to yunnan to the field of prosperity and strength, so that Yunnan achieved leapfrog development in the following few decades.
At noon on May 17, 2010, Comrade Liu Minghui, who had been the governor of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government and director of the Standing Committee, died peacefully in Kunming at the age of 96 due to old age and frail health and ineffective treatment.
