Vivienne Graven draws on figures from antiquity and the Renaissance. In her work, the distance between affection and hurt, romanticism and coldness are diametrically opposed poles. Her characters seem to glow from the inside out, as if they harbor a mysterious, sometimes almost religious energy. Her work has an unparalleled, positive aura and at the same time an extraordinary timelessness. Vivian Greven impressively demonstrates the touching and presence of painting in its time.

Hazy forms, ethereal lines, and muted colors. Düsseldorf-based artist Vivian Greven creates her own visual language at the intersection of figurative, conceptual and abstract art. Her digital perception of her subject matter is idealized and fluid, infusing a modern twist into a painting or sculpture already found in classical art.
