PC market picks up global shipments increased by 3.4% in Q2: Lenovo, HP, and Dell stabilize the top three
On July 10, according to the latest report from market research agency Canalys, in the second quarter of 2024, the global PC market ushered in a long-lost sign of recovery.
Global PC shipments in the quarter increased 3.4% year-over-year to 62.8 million units, a growth driven by the transition update to Windows 11 and the gradual adoption of AI PCs, with the update cycle expected to accelerate further in the coming quarters.
In terms of brands, Lenovo continued to lead the global market with shipments of 14.7 million units, a year-on-year increase of 4%; It was followed by HP with 13.7 million units shipped, ranking second.
Although Dell's shipments in the U.S. market have decreased, it still ranks third with 10.1 million units shipped, down 2% year-on-year.
Apple ranked fourth with 5.5 million units shipped, accounting for 9% of the market share, up 6% year-on-year; With the success of gaming PCs, ASUS shipped 4.5 million units, with an annual growth rate of 17%, surpassing Acer to enter the top five.
Ishan Dutt, chief analyst at Canalys, pointed out that the growth of the PC market is due to the active promotion of manufacturers and chip manufacturers, as well as the gradual realization of the AI PC roadmap.
In particular, the release of the first Copilot+ PC with a Snapdragon processor, as well as the Apple Intelligence feature suite released by Apple, have added bright spots to the market.
In addition, a survey of channel partners conducted by Canalys in June showed that the vast majority believe that Windows 10 service end-of-service will occur in the second half of 2024 or the first half of 2025, indicating an acceleration in shipment growth in the coming quarters.
