When KFC, the catering giant of 10,000 stores, meets the leading egg brand Shengdile, what new stories will collide?
A traceability, open the "food safety code"
Following the breakthrough of 10,000 stores in 2023, in the early summer of this year, KFC, the largest fast food brand in China, launched a "Good Taste Traceability Tour", forming "Kenjia Taste Group" in 23 places across the country, and visiting KFC's egg, chicken, beef, lettuce, potatoes and other food supply bases, which not only attracted wide attention from inside and outside the industry, but also let the mainstream media and consumers know more about the high-standard stories behind the scenes of "Good Taste".
Not long ago, KFC came to the Mianyang modern layer breeding base under Sichuan Shengdile Village Ecological Food Co., Ltd., and invited more than 50 media and self-media experts from Hubei, Guangxi, Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, Changsha and other markets to form a "Kenjia Taste Group" to explore the "food safety code" of a high-quality egg.
On the same day, the visiting group walked into the Shengdile Smart Farm Experience Center to get a close understanding of Shengdile's modern chicken coop, egg processing workshop and laboratory, from layer breeding, egg production, to egg sorting, cleaning, sterilization and packaging, and visited the "assembly line" of Shengdile's high-quality egg production.
As we all know, as an important ingredient in KFC's "good taste" products, eggs are indispensable. Among them, as with most agricultural products, one of the fundamental elements of egg quality is a good chicken breed.
It is understood that Shengdile and German Roman jointly built a Roman breeder grandfather demonstration base in China, using three generations of breeding methods to ensure the health of egg-laying hens to the greatest extent. Select corn, soybeans and miscellaneous grains, adhere to scientific ratio feeding, meet the nutritional needs of hens at different growth stages, and continue to improve the flavor, nutrition and taste of eggs.
In the Shengdile automatic breeding chicken house, automatic precision feeding, automatic drinking water, automatic manure removal, fresh air system, automatic egg collection...... With the assistance of intelligent equipment, only 1 worker is needed to raise 80,000 laying hens, which not only greatly improves the feeding efficiency, but also realizes environmental friendliness.
In the egg processing area, the egg processing equipment integrates automatic cleaning, disinfection, drying, automatic conversion of large and small heads, ultraviolet sterilization, oil injection preservation, light inspection, crack detection, weight grading, automatic coding and packaging, and is linked with the central egg collection system to ensure the uniform high quality of each egg.
In this traceability activity, the media experts tasted the high-quality eggs of Shengdile on the spot, and the taste was smooth and tender, and the flavor with a long aftertaste won unanimous praise from the experts. Many participants said that through this event, they fully understood the strength of Shengdile as the head brand of eggs, and the reasons why it has established a leading and benchmarking position in the industry.
An egg also has "scientific and technological strength"
The establishment of benchmarks is never achieved overnight. The same is true on an egg.
It is worth noting that the Mianyang base visited this time is just a microcosm of Shengdile's large-scale, intensive and intelligent modern factory breeding. At present, Shengdile has established 17 laying hen breeding bases in Sichuan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Hebei, Hubei, Guangdong, Guizhou, Zhejiang and other places, and the scale of laying hen breeding has reached 15 million birds.
As the egg brand of China's aerospace industry partner, Shengdile also undertakes the relevant work of the Mianyang Comprehensive Test Station of the National Layer Industry Technology System. Through the establishment of "academician (expert) workstation", "provincial technology research and development center" and other scientific research institutions, actively participate in national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects, and carry out production-university-research technical cooperation.
Quality is the life of an enterprise, and food safety is the most basic bottom line for the development of an enterprise. In line with international advanced standards, Shengdile has carried out standardized formulation work around production, quality, warehousing and sales, and formed an "SDL" standard system, covering the whole link of layer breeding and egg production. Every year, Shengdile implements the second and third-party certification management, standardizes the quality management through certification, and participates in various certifications and audits throughout the year. From 2015 to 2023, a total of 763 batches of Shengdile eggs participated in the national supervision and random inspection of product quality, with a pass rate of 100%. In 2021, Sundile passed the "Raw Egg Certification" and "Antibiotic-free Product Certification" by NSF, the global authoritative product certification body.
In addition to the egg supply of catering giants, Sundile has also become a national supermarket and five-star hotel egg supplier such as Sam's, Wal-Mart, Metro, Yonghui and so on. Through a nationwide marketing network, more than 2.5 billion high-quality eggs reach consumers' tables every year. In 2022, in the national modern channel packaged fresh egg market retail index report released by Nielsen, Shengdile ranked first in the country in terms of sales and sales volume at high-end prices (more than 1.5 yuan/piece).
In China's 300 billion egg market, problems such as blurred category boundaries, lack of standards and specifications, and lack of brands are still widespread. The good news is that with the rapid upgrade of consumption in China, consumer demand for food safety is promoting the continuous improvement of food safety standards. Based on this, the leading enterprises in the industrial chain need to continue to improve their internal quality management methods, and should take more measures to make consumers aware of this improvement.
