As part of the "Sino-French Cultural Spring: A Special Presentation of the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and France", the Power Station of Art (PSA) will present the first large-scale solo exhibition of the important French artist Annette Message in China, "Miscellaneous Thoughts", from July 6 to October 8, 2024. With more than 70 works in a variety of media, including paintings, photographs, sculptures, and installations, the exhibition will not only revisit key moments in the artist's half-century career, but also present large-scale installations reinterpreted in PSA space.

Started in the 70s of the last century, unlike the female artists at that time, who were keen on identity and intimate discussions, her work closely integrates feminist sensibility and surrealist strategies and methods, using memory as a vehicle for inspiration, using everyday materials to create compositions that transcend reality, dramatically creating a world that seems to be selfish but encompassing. Language and words are central to Mesagee, the trigger for her creations, and the title of each of her works begins with meaningful words. The title of the exhibition, "Miscellaneous Thoughts", stems from the artist's keen insight into the world around him and his self-summary of years of creation.

On July 5, 2024, artist Liu Shiyuan's latest solo exhibition "Palindromic Whispers" opened at the Fotografiska Video Art Center. Spanning photography, video, text, spatial installation, and stage plays, Liu Shiyuan's artistic practice demonstrates a profound exploration and questioning of the complex relationship between image and narrative. Through three series of photographic works and two video works, the exhibition will review the artist's more than ten years of photography and video-related creation.

Liu Shiyuan's works use the pixels of pictures and the still frames of videos as the smallest units of visual communication, which are examined, selected, and compiled in an almost scientific anatomical split. This approach is reminiscent of a CRISPR "genome editing" technique in biology, in which the smallest unit of a living organism is trimmed, cut, replaced, or added. The process of operation of CRISPR technology is very similar to the process of creating photography and video by artists: searching, cutting, re-editing, and waiting for new species to heal and grow themselves, i.e., to produce new images and new ways to view them. These images, which can no longer be defined by still or dynamic photography, are directed and choreographed by the artist in the context of "new photography".

"A Thousand Years of Thought: Chen Shiying's Half Century of Jewelry Art" was grandly opened this week in the East Pavilion of the Shanghai Museum. This exhibition is the first exhibition of the Shanghai Museum's "Collecting Ancient and Modern" Modern and Contemporary Art Masters series, and it is also the world's largest solo art exhibition of Wallace Chan, one of the most important Chinese contemporary jewelry artists of the 21st century. Chen Shiying's artistic career began in 1973, capturing the beauty of light, Chen Shiying continued to "practice" in the creation of works, and made many breakthroughs. Including the invention of the "Shiying cutting" technology in 1987, which creates an illusion sculpture that goes beyond three-dimensional yin carving.

Co-curated by the Shanghai Museum and Danish Royal Jewelry Curator Nina Hald, "A Thousand Years of Thought: The Art of Chen Shiying's Half Century of Jewelry" showcases more than 200 masterpieces, including "Shiying Cut", "Butterfly", "Flying Sky", "Hera Goddess", "Enlightening Cicada and The Return of the King". This exhibition skillfully integrates contemporary art and sculpture techniques, breaking the boundaries of the overall space, and presenting it through three themes: "Sculpture and Carrier", "Chaos and Magic", and "Wisdom and Strength".

Designed in 1978 by Henri d'Origny, the Arceau collection embodies Hermès' unique stylistic elements: the rounded case blends with stirrup ornaments, creating a subtle and timeless style with subtle details. Measuring 34 mm, the Arceau Grand Tralala brides et mors is a unique interpretation of the Grand Tralala silk scarf conceived by French artist Virgine Jamin. The colourful lacing and gleaming buckles are reminiscent of the luxurious saddles used by the Hungarian Royal Guards in the 19th century, paying homage to the brand's equestrian heritage. Crafted in rose gold, the case is surrounded by 64 brilliant diamonds, the crown is also set with diamonds, and the dial is sometimes white lacquered reflecting sequins, sometimes with a deep black undertone.

On the dial of the Arceau Grand Tralala, the reins and horsebits are delicately intertwined in rose gold and 110 diamonds to create a delicate graphic pattern. Equipped with a moving small seconds dial in the shape of a horsebit, the watch is powered by the Hermès Manufacture H1912 calibre, which is reflected in the rhythm of the beating sapphire crystal caseback. The watch is presented with a glossy alligator leather strap in cream white or black created by the Hermès watch workshop, which matches the colour of the dial.
