On July 4, BYD held a ceremony for the completion of its Thai plant and the roll-off ceremony of the 8 million new energy vehicles in Rayong, Thailand, marking the beginning of a new chapter in BYD's globalization and accelerating its overseas strategy again. The Minister of Industry of Thailand, Pimpala Wichaikun, the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, Han Zhiqiang, the Secretary-General of the Board of Investment of Thailand, Nali Tsatilasa, and the Chairman and President of BYD, Wang Chuanfu, attended the ceremony.

BYD's Thailand plant took only 16 months from start of construction to production, with an annual production capacity of about 150,000 units, including four major process and parts plants for vehicles. At the same time, BYD also became the first car company in the world to achieve the 8 million new energy vehicles off the assembly line, and the Dolphin was unveiled as an off-line model at the Thai factory.

In 2023, BYD's passenger car export sales will be 243,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 337%. In the first half of this year, BYD sold 1.607 million new energy passenger vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 28.8%, and was the world's leading new energy vehicle company, of which overseas sales exceeded 203,000, a year-on-year increase of 173.8%, maintaining a strong growth momentum. At present, BYD's new energy vehicles have spread to more than 400 cities in 88 countries and regions around the world. In addition to Thailand, BYD also has passenger car production bases in Brazil, Hungary, Uzbekistan and other countries.
