In the organic alfalfa industrial park of Shengmu Hi-tech Ecological Grass Industry in Bayannur City, Baoergai Farm Company, Dengkou County, 58,000 acres of alfalfa planted in a row are swaying in the wind, and large machinery such as self-propelled lawn mowers and rakes are shuttling back and forth in the field to harvest the first alfalfa this year, and the alfalfa field is a busy harvest scene.
According to Lu Jianping, director of Bayannur Shengmu Hi-Tech Ecological Grass Industry Co., Ltd., Shengmu Grass Industry has built a 58,000 mu organic alfalfa industrial park in Baoergai Farm (Company), which is currently in the harvest season of alfalfa, and the overall alfalfa growth is good, with a yield of about 900 kg to 1,000 kg per mu.
Alfalfa has the reputation of "the king of forage", cold and drought resistance, and the grass itself has high protein and high nutritional value, which should be digested and absorbed by livestock, and is a high-quality forage for feeding livestock. At the same time, it also plays an important role in windbreak and sand fixation, soil improvement, soil consolidation and moisture conservation. This year, the park has optimized the planting structure and greatly improved the average benefit of forage per mu to ensure the highest nutrient content and the best quality of alfalfa. At the same time, large-scale mechanized operations are adopted, saving labor and saving costs, harvesting alfalfa three to four stubbles every year, and 58,000 acres of alfalfa need about 30 days to be harvested.
"Baoergai Farm (Company) began to plant alfalfa in 2018, which has grown from a few hundred acres in the past to 58,000 acres now, which is a good sand prevention and control project, and can also drive the economic benefits of the farm and let the people increase their income and get rich." Li Wanquan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Baoergai Farm Company in Dengkou County, said.
In recent years, Dengkou County has actively explored the introduction, demonstration and promotion of new technologies and varieties of high-quality forage, increased the construction of forage bases, continued to work industrialization, scale, mechanization and standardization, cultivated forage planting and acquisition, processing, sales and other business cooperation organizations, and realized the mechanization of harvesting, drying, gathering, baling and hauling, which not only promoted the large-scale development of forage industry, but also helped farmers and herdsmen increase their income. This year, the forage planting area in Dengkou County is expected to reach 458,000 mu, and the output is expected to reach 850,000 tons.
