On May 17, the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs planned to put 10 sand pressing machinery in Babu Sand Forest Farm in Gulang County for the implementation of the pilot project of integration of agricultural machinery R&D, manufacturing, promotion and application. The county agricultural machinery technology extension service center organized the mechanized sand compaction test activity, and Guo Wangang, the "forestry hero" and director of the Babu sand forest farm, personally participated in the on-site mechanical sand compaction test activities.

As the wheels of the new sand compactor passed, the wheat straw sand barrier was deeply embedded in the yellow sand. In just a few minutes, the neat rows of wheat straw squares gradually spread out, tightly locking the long yellow sand under your feet.
"Today we put five crawler tractors here for mechanized sand compaction experiments, from the experimental effect, the sand compaction depth can reach 30 to 40 cm, and a crawler tractor can complete about 80 acres of sand compaction area every day. If the test is successful, it will realize the transformation from traditional artificial sand compaction to modern mechanical sand compaction. Liu Guangzong, deputy director of the Gulang County Agricultural Machinery Technology Extension Service Center, said.

Looking at the new sand compaction equipment in the desert, Guo Wangang said with emotion: "Today we are here to do this mechanized sand compaction experiment, I think this is very good." In the past, the old people pressed the sand by donkeys to pack the grass and manually pressed the grass, and later the grass was transported with a car, but the grass pressing had to be done manually, and now the mechanical sand pressing has a particularly obvious effect. I hope that in the future, we can become more and more mechanized in sand compaction to improve our sand compaction efficiency. ”
From the initial "one tree, one handful of grass" to "grass grid + sand seedlings", and then to "solidification, management, protection and maintenance" of sand control, Gulang County has never stopped exploring scientific sand control, and the progress and quality of sand prevention and control have also been effectively improved. With the addition of sand pressing machinery, the labor intensity will be greatly reduced, and the efficiency of sand compaction and sand fixation will be improved.
