Journey to the West: Why did a boy dare to steal peaches three times and scold Sun Wukong for being an old thief?

In Wuzhuang Guan, Sun Wukong smashed the ginseng fruit tree. Later, because he couldn't break free from Zhenyuan Daxian's "sleeve in his sleeve", he was repeatedly arrested, and Wukong could only agree to heal the ginseng fruit tree.

Because "Fang came from the sea", which means "if you want to find the magic recipe to come back to life, the only way to go to the sea fairy mountain spirit island to find the immortals". So Wukong went to Penglai Mountain, Yingzhou Mountain, and Abbot Mountain. These three mountains are the famous "Three Mountains on the Sea".

Wukong went to Penglai first, but although the three immortals of Fulushou in Penglai Mountain had a recipe, they could only save birds and beasts, fish and dragon people, etc., but could not save the ginseng fruit tree. As a last resort, Wukong went to Abbot Mountain again and asked for help from Emperor Donghua.

However, right at Abbot Mountain, Goku was scolded. The person who scolded him had a low status, just a boy next to Emperor Donghua. Moreover, this boy is very bold, and he directly scolded Sun Wukong as an "old thief", which is not polite at all.

As we all know, Goku has a bad temper, if someone scolds him, he will definitely scold him back, even if it is just about the ugly things in Goku's past, Goku will be angry. If he still doesn't get angry, Wukong may also have to beat the other party. For example, the Black Bear Monster, just saying that Wukong is Bi Ma Wen, angered Wukong, and was almost killed in the end.

However, what is very strange is that after the boy scolded Sun Wukong, Sun Wukong was not angry at all, let alone scolded the boy. Afterwards, Goku didn't care.

Who is this boy? Why did he dare to scold Sun Wukong? And why do you want to scold Sun Wukong for being an "old thief"? Why is Sun Wukong not angry?

Journey to the West: Why did a boy dare to steal peaches three times and scold Sun Wukong for being an old thief?

This boy is the famous "Dongfang Shuo"

In the twenty-sixth episode of Journey to the West, Wukong came to Abbot Mountain to seek medical treatment for the recipe of the living ginseng fruit tree. Abbot Mountain is the dojo of Emperor Donghua, and Emperor Donghua has a boy, which is Dongfang Shuo.

At that time, as soon as Wukong arrived at Abbot Mountain, he saw Dongfang Shuo. Wukong owes his mouth, and when he goes up, he says that Dongfang Shuo is a "thief".

Sun Xingzhi greeted him and shouted: "Emperor, start your hand." The emperor hurriedly replied: "Great sage, you are out of welcome." Please serve tea in Araiya. Then he walked in hand with the walker. Sure enough, it is Beique Immortal Palace, and you can't see all the Yaochi Qiongge. Fang sat and waited for tea, only to see a child turn out behind Cuiping...... When the walker saw it, he smiled and said, "This little thief is here!" There are no peaches in the emperor's place, you can steal them! ”

This boy is Dongfang Shuo. After Dongfang Shuo was scolded by Wukong, he immediately scolded back, and the scolding was very ugly.

Dongfang Shuo saluted upwards and replied, "Old thief, why are you here?" My master doesn't have an elixir for you to eat secretly. The emperor shouted: "Man Qianxiu is talking nonsense, and the tea is coming." Man Qian was originally the Taoist name of Dongfang Shuo, and he hurriedly went in to get two cups of tea and drank it.

That's right, this Dongfang Shuo is the think tank around Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, a famous writer in history, and later the legend is that he disappeared mysteriously, and was mythologized as an immortal, and was written into the "Legend of the Immortals".

Although he was scolded by Dongfang Shuo, Wukong was not angry and asked Emperor Donghua if he had a recipe that could heal the ginseng fruit tree. After learning that there was no way, Wukong said goodbye and left, and went to look for the Nine Elders of Yingzhou again.

However, the nine elders of Yingzhou did not have a recipe to heal the ginseng fruit tree, and Wukong finally turned to Guanyin Bodhisattva for help, which revived the ginseng fruit tree.

Journey to the West: Why did a boy dare to steal peaches three times and scold Sun Wukong for being an old thief?

Why did Wukong scold Dongfang Shuo as a "thief"

The so-called "everything has a cause" means that everything has a cause. Dongfang Shuo scolded Sun Wukong as an "old thief", because Wukong scolded him as a "little thief".

However, why did Wukong call Dongfang Shuo a "thief"? Did Wukong come up with nonsense, or is there another reason? Speaking of which, this is really not Wukong's fabrication.

The reason why Wukong scolded Dongfang Shuo as a thief is related to Dongfang Shuo's rumors. Legend has it that Dongfang Shuo also stole the queen mother's peach, and three times.

For example, the "Story of Han Wu", written in the Western Han Dynasty (it is said that the authors are Ban Gu, Ge Hong and others), recorded such an event.

Dongjun sent a short person, five inches long, well-dressed. Suspect its essence and summon Dongfang Wanshuo to. Shuo Hu said to the short man: "Giant Spirit, is Mother still here?" Short people are not right. Because of the referent: "The queen mother planted peaches, and it was a fruit in three thousand years. This child is bad, he has stolen it three times, and lost the queen's mother's will, so he was scolded here. "I was shocked, and I knew that Shuo was not a person in the world.

Roughly speaking:

Dongjun gave Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty a treasure, a villain who was only five inches tall, and this villain was still wearing clothes and hats, just like a normal person. Emperor Wu of Han felt that this villain should be a spirit, but he was not sure.

So, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty asked someone to invite Dongfang Shuo and let him see what the origin of the villain was.

After Dongfang Shuo looked at the villain, he asked, "Giant Spirit, is Mother here?" The villain didn't pay attention to Dongfang Shuo, but said to Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty: "Your Majesty, the Queen Mother has planted some peaches, and it will take three thousand years to bear fruit." This kid (referring to Dongfang Shuo) is not a good person, and he went to steal peaches three times. The Queen Mother no longer liked her, so she relegated him to the world and to His Majesty. ”

Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was shocked when he heard this, and he knew that Dongfang Shuo was originally an immortal, not a layman in the world.

Journey to the West: Why did a boy dare to steal peaches three times and scold Sun Wukong for being an old thief?

Of course, the story of Dongfang Shuo's stealing peaches has different legends and different records. For example, in "The Inner Biography of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty", it is different from the record of "The Story of Han Wu".

Suddenly, in the Suzaku window in the south of the hall, a person suddenly came to peep at the immortal official. The emperor was shocked and asked, "Who?" The Queen Mother said, "Don't you know this person?" It's the waitress Dongfang Shuo, and it's my neighbor's child. How funny sex is, I have come to steal this peach three times. This son used to be the Taishang Immortal Official, and the Taishang ordered to go to the abbot Mountain to help the three days to collect the immortal family. Shuo to the abbot, but the landscape game, not the common camp harmony, good at thunder and lightning, shock waves, wind and rain, yin and yang staggered. To order the whale to travel on land, the landslide is bad, the sea water is exhausted, and the yellow bird stays in the abyss. Hindering agriculture and rain, indulging in jade wine, losing the sum of the royal department, and losing the discipline. So Jiuyuan Zhangren said to the Taishang, and the Taishang reprimanded, so that in the world, go to the Taiqing Dynasty, and order the stinky township. Near the two immortals of Jinhua Mountain and the nine suspicious kings, they are compared to Chen Qi to line the original. "So the emperor knew that Shuo was not a worldly person.

The premise of this passage is: Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty wanted to become an immortal, and the Queen Mother and others taught him the secret method. After teaching the practice diagram and the rules needed for Liujia miscellaneous affairs, the Queen Mother said that after July of the third year, she would come to teach Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty important Taoism.

What follows is the above paragraph, which roughly means:

Not long after, in the Suzaku window on the south side of the main hall, a person came to peek at the Queen Mother and the immortals she brought.

Emperor Wu of Han was shocked and asked, "Who is (peeking)?" ”

The Queen Mother said, "Don't you know this man? He is the squire next to you, Dongfang Shuo, that is, the child next door. This kid has a natural sense of humor, and has come to me three times to steal peaches. He used to be an immortal official of Taishang, and Taishang asked him to go to Abbot Mountain to help the three days of Si Ming to collect immortals. However, after Dongfang Shuo arrived at Abbot Mountain, he did not do his job, he was playing in the mountains and rivers every day, and he also played with thunder and lightning without authorization, which caused the wind and waves on the sea to be stormy, the wind and rain did not appear in season, the yin and yang were reversed, the dragons and whales in the water were all on the land, the mountains collapsed and the ground cracked, the sea water was exhausted, and the yellow bird inhabited the abyss; He also hindered the cultivation of the farmland, indulged in alcohol, failed to achieve the role of command and reconciliation, and committed a great sin. So, Jiuyuan Zhangren told the Taishang Immortal, and the Taishang Immortal was furious and degraded him to the world, leaving him away from the Taiqing Heavenly Realm and to a dirty, smelly and filthy place. Recently, the two immortals of Jinhua Mountain and the Nine Doubtful Monarchs interceded for Dongfang Shuo, and the Taishang Immortals took into account Dongfang Shuo's conduct, so they forgave him. ”

After listening to the words of the Queen Mother, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty knew that Dongfang Shuo was not an earthly layman, no wonder he was uninhibited, funny, and knew everything!

Journey to the West: Why did a boy dare to steal peaches three times and scold Sun Wukong for being an old thief?

There are also some legends, which also say that Dongfang Shuo stole peaches, but they are different from the stories recorded in the above two books.

Legend has it that Dongfang Shuo was a white-bearded old man who accidentally got a white ape, which could go up to the sky and into the earth, swim the sea, and go anywhere. Dongfang Shuo heard that the Queen Mother held a peach meeting in Yaochi, and the peach could live forever after eating it, so he went to heaven with the help of the white ape's divine power and stole a few peaches from the Queen Mother.

Unfortunately, however, Dongfang Shuo was captured by the gods. The Queen Mother wanted to punish Dongfang Shuo, but Dongfang Shuo's language was humorous and funny, which made the Queen Mother laugh. The Queen Mother no longer punished Dongfang Shuo, but gave him a few peaches and gave him immortal wine and food.

In the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, there were many painters painting Dongfang Shuo stealing peaches, and there were also related wood carvings. Dongfang Shuo on the picture is mostly a white-bearded old man, or holding a peach, or holding a peach, and some paintings or wood carvings will also appear white apes.

Because the story of Dongfang Shuo stealing peaches is very famous, the author of Journey to the West will insert this story into "Monkey King Three Islands Seeking Prescription". It can even be said that the story of Sun Wukong stealing peaches is rewritten accordingly and "dominates the guests". Instead, Dongfang Shuo stole peaches and became a background board.

Journey to the West: Why did a boy dare to steal peaches three times and scold Sun Wukong for being an old thief?

Here, Wukong scolded Dongfang Shuo for stealing peaches, which can also be said to be "paying tribute to the deity".

Why didn't Goku get angry after being scolded as an "old thief".

With Wukong's temper, after being scolded by a boy as an "old thief", why didn't he get angry? Could it be that he was afraid of Dongfang Shuo or Emperor Donghua?

Of course not, don't say that Dongfang Shuo is just a boy, even Emperor Donghua has to be polite when he sees Sun Wukong, after all, the official quality of "Monkey King" has reached the extreme, and it can be said that it is second only to the Jade Emperor. As mentioned earlier, as soon as Emperor Donghua saw Sun Wukong, he "hurriedly returned the gift".

In fact, the reason why Wukong is not angry is that he scolded Dongfang Shuo in front, and secondly, he has a request for Emperor Donghua. It depends on the owner to beat the dog, in case it annoys Dongfang Shuo, Emperor Donghua can't hang his face; Sanlai Dongfang Shuo was right, after all, Wukong is old, stealing peaches, stealing elixirs, and stealing wine and delicacies...... What is not an "old thief"?

Besides, the story of Wukong stealing peaches all originated from Dongfang Shuo's stealing peaches. Now that Wukong has not only become the protagonist, but also "dominates the crowd", the original protagonist of the story of stealing peaches has been reduced to a background board, why is Wukong embarrassed to be angry?

Dongfang Shuo, a boy, why did he dare to steal peaches three times and dare to scold Wukong for being an old thief? That's the reason, and that's the confidence the author gave him.
