1. BYD (passenger car)
Sales in April: 301,600 units
In April, BYD sold 313245 vehicles, of which 312048 passenger cars were sold, a year-on-year increase of 49%. At present, BYD's cumulative sales of new energy have exceeded 7.3 million units.
Specifically, BYD brand sales in April were 297864 units, a year-on-year increase of 49.7%. The Denza brand sold 11,122 units, 952 units of Yangwang and 2,110 units of Formula Leopard. Passenger car exports totaled 41,011 units, reflecting a 176.6% y/y increase.
In terms of specific models, Dynasty NetQin exceeded 50,000, and the sales of Song and Yuan exceeded 30,000 units; In the ocean network, Song PLUS performed strongly, with sales of more than 40,000 units; Seagulls and dolphins are also responsible for sales, with sales exceeding 30,000 and 10,000 respectively. The momentum of the DENZA D9 is still the same, and there is still a sales performance of more than 10,000. Looking up at the U8 and Formula Leopard Leopard 5, sales of 952 and 2,110 units respectively.
In terms of exports, BYD exported 41,011 vehicles, up 176.6% year-on-year, which also hit a record high. In April, the traditional off-season, BYD can also have such results, and the growth momentum is still strong.
2. Chery Group
Sales in April: 181,500 units
Chery Automobile sold 117,726 units in April, compared to 482,947 units in the first four months of 2024, up 57.5% year-on-year.
Subdivided brands, Chery brand and Jietu brand performed well. Among them, the Chery brand sold 117726 units in April, the Xingtu brand sold 8,235 units in April, the Jietu brand sold 37,248 units in April, and the iCAR brand sold 7,524 units in April.
Exports in April totaled 89,377 units, reflecting an 18.3% y/y increase. From January to April, Chery exported a total of 342,795 vehicles, up 34.2% year-on-year.
At present, Chery Group includes four major brands, namely Chery, Xingtu, Jietu and iCAR. Among them, the Chery brand focuses on fuel and pure electric vehicles, while the Fengyun series lays out the hybrid market; As a brand in the high-end market, Xingtu mainly focuses on the two tracks of pure electric and extended range; As Chery's main brand in the direction of hybrid vehicles, Jietu focuses on off-road routes; The iCAR is a pure electric intelligent fashion route, and the iCAR V23, X25 and iCAR 03T will be launched in the future.
3. Geely
April sales: 153,000 units
Geely Automobile's sales in April were 153267 units, a year-on-year increase of about 39%, of which 51,428 new energy vehicles were sold monthly, a year-on-year increase of about 75%; Overseas exports were 38,151 units, an increase of about 5% month-on-month. Cumulative sales from January to April this year reached 628987 units.
In terms of brands, the Geely brand (including Geometry) sold 118451 vehicles, of which Galaxy sold 12,725 vehicles, an increase of 24.94% month-on-month; The Lynk & Co brand sold 18,727 vehicles in April; The ZEEKR brand sold 16,089 vehicles in April, a year-on-year increase of 98.61%; ZEEKR delivered 16,089 vehicles in April, a year-on-year increase of about 99%.
In terms of overseas exports, Geely Automobile's sales in April were 38,151 units, an increase of 4.80% month-on-month and 66.29% year-on-year, and globalization continued to advance, with exports accounting for 24.89% of the group's sales.
4. Changan Automobile
Sales in April: 123,000 units (autonomous passenger cars)
Recently, Changan Automobile announced its sales in April, with the group selling a total of 210113 new cars, an increase of 15% over the same period. Among them, Changan's own brand new energy sales were 51,682 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 129.7%; overseas sales of self-owned brands were 31,649 units, a year-on-year increase of 93.2%; In April, 123118 units of own-brand passenger cars were sold.
Specific to the sub-brands, the Changan brand delivered 91,332 vehicles in April, while Qiyuan delivered 11,833 vehicles in April, and Changan Qiyuan A07, A05 and other models are deeply involved in the domestic price war. Changan Deep Blue delivered 12,744 vehicles in April, and at present, Deep Blue has three models: Deep Blue SL03, Deep Blue S7 and Deep Blue G318, and the delivery has exceeded 10,000 for many months; AVATR delivered 5,247 vehicles in April, and the latest model AVATR 15 will also be unveiled in the near future.
5. Great Wall Motors
April sales: 94,796 units (including commercial vehicles)
Great Wall Motor announced that a total of 94,796 units were sold in April, a year-on-year increase of 1.8%, and 370129 units were sold from January to April, a year-on-year increase of 18.18%. In April, 22,436 new energy vehicles were sold, and a total of 81,618 units were sold from January to April.
In terms of brands, Haval sold 47,054 new vehicles in April; The WEY brand also saw significant growth, with 4,458 new vehicles sold in April, up 87.71% year-on-year. Tanks performed well, with 20,469 new cars sold in April, a year-on-year increase of 87.51%; Great Wall pickup truck sales in April were 18,069 units; The ORA brand sold 4,686 new vehicles in April.
In overseas markets, Great Wall's overseas sales reached a record high of 36,141 units in April, up 65.68% year-on-year. From January to April, a total of 128,919 new cars were sold overseas, a year-on-year increase of 74.71%, and at present, Great Wall Motor's five major brands have successfully gone overseas, and the cumulative number of users worldwide has exceeded 14 million.
6. SAIC Passenger Vehicle

In April, SAIC Motor Motor reported vehicle sales of 360,010 units, down 3.73% y/y. Among them, SAIC Motor sold 63,315 passenger cars, down 7.24% year-on-year, and Zhiji sold 3,000 units.
At present, SAIC Passenger Vehicle has assembled three major brands: Roewe, MG and Feifan. Among them, Roewe launched a new D series model, while MG is mainly concentrated in overseas markets, while the future of Feifan is relatively unclear. The high-end Zhiji Auto currently has four products on sale, namely the Zhiji L7, Zhiji LS7, Zhiji LS6 and Zhiji L6.
In the overall performance of SAIC in April, it was not outstanding, but there were bright spots. In April, SAIC Motor sold 74,590 new energy vehicles, up 9.33% y/y. Overseas sales reached 92,000 units, up 2.7% y/y.
7. GAC Group
April sales: 65,000 units
Recently, GAC Trumpchi officially announced that its sales in April 2024 will be 37,733 units, a year-on-year increase of 25.6%. Among them, MPV models sold a total of 13,198 units in April. At present, Trumpchi's MPV models mainly include M8 series, M6 series, E9 series, and E8 series.
As for GAC Aion, sales in April were 28,113 units, down 13.5% from March. At present, Aion has two major sub-brands, one is the AION brand, and its main models are AION Y, AION S and AION V PLUS, which are mainly concentrated in the online car-hailing market; The other is the Haobo Hyper brand, which is positioned in the middle and high-end consumer groups.
