The next day, when the suspect reappeared and was about to come to the door for "network maintenance", he was caught red-handed by the police.
The suspect said he saw a job posting online and applied for a job as an "equipment installer." The "boss" contacted him via online video and WeChat, distributed badges and tooling that pretended to be the staff of the broadband company, and mailed him VOIP equipment by courier.
It is reported that other members of the gang will pretend to be the customer service of a broadband company to make random phone calls and make appointments for door-to-door services on the grounds of increasing bandwidth for free or carrying out signal maintenance. After the appointment was successful, the suspect was contacted, informed of the installation location, and asked him to come to the door for installation.
In a month, the suspect installed dozens of VOIP equipment in accordance with the instructions of the "boss", making a profit of nearly 10,000 yuan, and most of the victims were elderly. At present, the person has been criminally detained by the Chaoyang police in accordance with the law, and the case is under further investigation.
