She began to know Uzumaguchi Middle School at the end of 2007, when she was in her first year of junior high school. Yin Xin was in a math class when the Wenchuan earthquake struck on May 12, 2008, and luckily all the students in her class were survivors of the earthquake. The year after the earthquake, Yin Xin and her parents moved back to Yingxiu New Town, which was built with the help of Dongguan, Guangdong. Because it was rebuilt on the original site, Yingxiu Town has a new look, from ruins to new city. The only building in the town that has survived the devastation of the earthquake is the ruins of Uzumaguchi Middle School.
