Our embassy urgently reminds →

Recently, the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia has received reports from a number of Chinese citizens that some criminals have used the 012***928 number to pretend to be the staff of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia to carry out telecommunication fraud, and asked the parties concerned to further contact them on false grounds such as "illegal activities need to cooperate with the investigation" and "bank cards have abnormal movements", and induced the parties to transfer and remit money for various reasons.

The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia solemnly reminds Chinese citizens in Cambodia that Chinese embassies and consulates abroad will not notify Chinese citizens by phone that there are cases involving China that need to be handled abroad, will not call the person concerned to inform them that their passport documents need to be extended or reissued, and that they need to pay relevant fees or fines by transfer or other means, let alone ask the caller to call back any other telephone number for further contact. Do not trust any phone calls or emails that ask for personal financial information such as bank cards in the name of Chinese embassies or consulates abroad, or request transfers or remittances.

The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia reminds that if you receive similar calls and emails suspected of fraud, please be vigilant, do not disclose your name, address, family situation, bank account and other personal information on the phone, and it is recommended to hang up the phone directly. If you are unable to identify whether it is a fraudulent call, it is recommended to call the consular protection and assistance telephone number or email address published by the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia for further verification. If you have unfortunately encountered fraud, please report to the local police and report the relevant situation to the embassy in time.
