Rural China through the lens of a Dutch photographer

author:Fang waited for the middle of the night to listen to Jun's words

The Dutch photographer Robert Van der Hilst spent six years visiting more than 20 provinces in China, photographing the lives of more than 1,000 families, starting in 2004 and later publishing a photo album, The Chinese Family.

From the dark rooms, smoky walls and simple furnishings, it is not difficult to see that the photographer's lens is mostly aimed at the lowest rural families.
