Ministry of State Security: The deliberate and illegal intervention of foreign countries is the source of chaos in the South China Sea

author:Henan Business Daily

Recently, British international law scholar Anthony Carty's book "History and Sovereignty in the South China Sea" has attracted wide attention from the international community. The book combs through the official historical archives of the United States, Britain, and France on the ownership of Nanhai Zhudao since the end of the 19th century, and uses a large number of historical materials to prove that governments have long recognized and supported China's sovereignty over Nanhai Zhudao. From the standpoint of justice and justice, the relevant expositions have ruthlessly exposed the insidious tricks of foreign countries to undermine regional peace and stability, and effectively countered the unreasonable provocations of countries in the region that claim sovereignty in the South China Sea.

Ministry of State Security: The deliberate and illegal intervention of foreign countries is the source of chaos in the South China Sea

China's sovereignty and related rights and interests in the South China Sea are beyond doubt

China's sovereignty over Nanhai Zhudao is historically established, a fact that has been repeatedly revealed by the results of historical archives at home and abroad, and has been widely recognized by the international community.

Ministry of State Security: The deliberate and illegal intervention of foreign countries is the source of chaos in the South China Sea

History cannot be denied, and the truth cannot be tampered with. The historical materials of various countries, including China's historical archives, clearly show that Nanhai Zhudao has been China's territory since ancient times. China's activities in the South China Sea have a history of more than 2,000 years, and it was the first to discover, name, develop and utilize Nanhai Zhudao and related waters, and the first to exercise sovereignty and jurisdiction over Nanhai Zhudao and related waters in a continuous, peaceful and effective manner, thus establishing its sovereignty over Nanhai Zhudao and related rights and interests in the South China Sea.

China's sovereignty over the South China Sea has long been widely recognized by the international community. China's sovereignty over Nanhai Zhudao was never questioned by the outside world before the 70s of the 20th century. After World War II, China recovered Nanhai Zhudao, which was illegally occupied by Japan, and took legislative, administrative, and diplomatic measures to further safeguard its sovereignty over Nanhai Zhudao and its related rights and interests in the South China Sea. The 1948 public map of China's administrative regions clearly marked the discontinuity line of the South China Sea, and the countries surrounding the South China Sea and the international community did not raise any objections or questions. At that time, the maps of the United States, the Soviet Union, Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines and other countries all drew the discontinuous line of the South China Sea, and clearly marked the Nansha Islands as Chinese territory.

China has always firmly upheld its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea. Although there have been occasional storms in the South China Sea under different historical conditions, China's position on the South China Sea issue has been consistent and clear, and has never changed due to the influence of any external environmental factors. China has sovereignty over Nanhai Zhudao, including Dongsha Islands, Xisha Islands, Zhongsha Islands and Nansha Islands. China's Nanhai Zhudao has internal waters, territorial seas, and contiguous zones; China's South China Sea Zhudao has an exclusive economic zone and continental shelf; China has historic rights in the South China Sea. At the same time, China has long been committed to promoting negotiations to resolve differences and be a staunch force for peace, stability and development in the South China Sea.

The deliberate and illegal intervention of foreign countries is the source of chaos in the South China Sea

As revealed in the book History and Sovereignty of the South China Sea, Western countries have long recognized China's sovereignty in the South China Sea, but for ulterior geopolitical purposes, they have taken a series of interventions that jeopardize peace and stability in the South China Sea. These illegal activities not only seriously undermine China's sovereignty and related rights and interests in the South China Sea, but also become the root cause of undermining peace and stability in the South China Sea, fully exposing the despicable intentions of certain countries to cling to the Cold War mentality and stir up the situation in the South China Sea.

The sinister plot is clear. Kati pointed out that the whole problem of the South China Sea is to blame for the Western colonizers in the 30s of the 20th century, "invading the Chinese homeland that has not been disturbed until then." The US diplomatic archives prove that in the 40s of the 20 th century, the US Government deliberately "ignored its hydrographic records and the recommendations of the International Law Committee of Experts" and "was first concerned about excluding China from the two islands (Xisha and Nansha)." It is precisely this sinister plot that has forced the South China Sea, a sea of peace and cooperation that has benefited neighboring countries for a long time, to be clouded with disputes, friction and confrontation.

Despicable means want to cover up. Since 2023, the United States has instigated the Philippine authorities and anti-China politicians to rely on the U.S.-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty, violate a large number of agreements and commitments reached with China, and continue to promote measures to substantively change the status quo in the South China Sea. In particular, the United States has instigated and supported the Philippines in promoting the so-called "transparency of the South China Sea", spreading disinformation, carrying out "cognitive operations in the South China Sea" against China, and creating international hotspot incidents in the South China Sea at multiple locations, themes and high frequencies.

Security provocations harm others and oneself. By provoking bloc confrontation, the United States has constantly manipulated security issues in the South China Sea, expanded "base access", staged "joint patrols", deployed medium-range missiles, and strengthened its "security commitments" in order to prevent chaos in the world. The countries concerned have a bad record in the history of the region, and they are trying their best to promote the pan-security of the South China Sea issue, and their clamor and provocation will inevitably harbor evil intentions, which will inevitably cause serious damage to the peace and stability of the South China Sea and the security and development of neighboring countries, and will also be spurned by history.

China has indisputable sovereignty over Nanhai Zhudao, and any attempt to sow discord and infringe on rights and provoke in the South China Sea is doomed to fail. In the face of all undercurrents and countercurrents in the waves of the South China Sea, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, the national security organs will adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implement the overall national security concept, take strict precautions on the hidden front, resolutely thwart all kinds of attempts to undermine China's sovereignty and related rights and interests in the South China Sea, firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, and contribute to the peace, stability, development and prosperity of the South China Sea and its surrounding areas.
