Heroes 14 Company
The 14th Company of the 63rd Regiment, stationed at Kefu Station and Waisu Station in January 1967, was attacked by US air raids 114 times before and after, and enemy planes dropped 1,334 bombs, destroyed 33 locomotives, destroyed 10,795 meters of line extension, and blew up 59,000 cubic meters of roadbed. The madness of the bombing, the tragedy of the destruction, the difficulty of the repair, the tragedy of the battle, the earth-shattering!
Inspired by the spirit of winning glory for the "five greats," the commanders and fighters carried forward the fighting spirit of not being afraid of hardship and sacrifice and, in order to ensure the smooth operation of the railway, fought hard all night for 69 nights, and withstood the tempering of blood and fire and the test of life and death.

Heroic and tenacious 14th Company
The aircraft bombed the Kefu station indiscriminately, and it was the station with the largest number of bombings, the largest bomb drops, and the most serious damage among all the stations in North Vietnam. The commanders and fighters could not sleep in the barracks during the day, so they slept in the trenches. There are enemy planes in the air, mosquito bites around me, and I can't sleep well. In the continuous assault at night, the spirit of emergency repair has been very sleepy and tired, and he rarely eats on time and sleeps peacefully. Sometimes, just after returning from emergency repairs, the tools have just been put down, the clothes have not been washed, the food has not been eaten, and after the urgent task, they have to rush to the battlefield again. Many of the fighters were so tired that they fell asleep and snored profusely after only a few minutes of entering the dugout. Some comrades fell asleep with their rice bowls in their hands. Extreme fatigue plagued every cadre and soldier, but as long as they entered the repair site, everyone cheered up and threw themselves into battle.

The identification flags at the repair site are not only dangerous situations, but also tasks. The removal of a large number of "secondary shells" depends entirely on the bombardiers. They are not "professional", with a passionate burst of ambition and courage, a tenacious polished dragon carving heart, and have achieved success again and again. They are the company's cadres and soldiers, and they are trustworthy "scavengers" and "protectors"!
On October 21, 1965, Li Daiheng, who was still the deputy company commander at the time, suddenly received a call from the regiment commander Su Baochen: "A heavy bomb fell in Wenkan Village, seriously threatening the safety of the villagers, I order you to take two soldiers to dismantle it immediately!" Company Commander Li immediately brought Zheng Yaoting and Wang Jianwei to the scene, and instructor Chen Zhangxing and Yan Guangqun, a member of the General Political Cultural Work Team, and others also rushed over. The big guy of 750 pounds is lying like a big shark in a rice field. They have never seen it, only know that "it will explode." They dragged it up to the ground and circled it round and round, "cylindrical rods", "big discs", "small discs", ...... A string of self-named "mechanisms" is turned upside down in my mind, and I just can't find a way to disassemble it.
Company Commander Li swooped down to observe carefully, and saw the "screw mouth" at a glance, and his heart suddenly lit up: "If he can screw it, I can screw it off!" Company Commander Li arranged for Zheng Yaoting and Wang Jianwei to stabilize the bullet body, and asked Instructor Chen, Tan Guangqun and others to leave the concealment, assist in making records, and took the tools themselves and began to disassemble. One by one, the "screw mouths" were finally removed. At this moment, a crisp ticking sound suddenly sounded, "Hit it regularly, run!" Only then did Company Commander Li know that "it was a timed bomb." He pushed Wang Jianwei and Zheng Yaoting away, but they grabbed Company Commander Li's hand and refused to leave. "They want to change me, I resolutely don't do it, life and death are at a moment, then there is a reason for soldiers to change cadres!" The three pairs of eyes quickly found the fuse from a set of wires, and Company Commander Li made a sharp shot, and the ticking sound stopped abruptly, and the bomb disposal was successful. This is the first timed bomb that my regiment successfully dismantled!
Tragic and tragic battles
August 29, 1967 was the most tragic battle of "bombing, repair, and rescue" since the 14th Company was stationed at Kefu Station. On that day, reconnaissance reports showed that the US military carried out "repeated bombings" at the Kefu station at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 7 p.m. The US military successively dispatched 12 batches of 116 sorties of heavy bombers, dropping 1,232 heavy bombs, hitting 123 targets, and more than 200 tons of ammunition, and even leveling several surrounding hills.
The first period of bombing ended, and the company was quickly put into emergency repairs. Since a few timed bombs fell on the station, the only way to organize emergency repairs was to "work while dismantling the bombs." Instructor Chen's mobilization for the battle greatly boosted the fighting spirit of the commanders and fighters of the whole company. The second platoon commander Ye Fuji went straight to the construction site as soon as he returned to the company from visiting relatives, and the deputy instructor Wang Zhanchao's left foot board was hit by a road nail and could not get out of the line of fire,...... The leading role of cadres has boosted the rush repair to a climax.
Suddenly, the air defense sirens sounded, enemy aircraft attacked again, and the whole company immediately went into bunker. The second period of bombing is finally over. When the cadres and soldiers went up to the seventh and eighth strands, the more than 200-meter line that had been backfilled and sorted out was blown up again. Company Commander Li yelled at the sky: "Blow it up, I'll fix it wherever you blow it up!" Repair as you bomb and repair, never back down! By 7 o'clock in the evening, the foundation of the 975-meter line has been completed, more than 2,000 sleepers, more than 3,000 ballast has been paved, two turnouts, 40 rails have been in place.
But at this moment, the third wave of bombing by the US army swept in, and at 7:20 p.m., this wave of bombing finally ended. The cadres and fighters rushed out of the bunkers one after another and stood at their respective posts. Deputy company commander Zheng Zuzhen led the first platoon and the third platoon to explain the key points of the night emergency repair, and the deputy instructors Li Company Commander, Instructor Chen, Zhang Jinhua, and Wang Zhanchao led the second platoon and the third platoon and the eleventh squad to the south head to surprise and clear the obstacles. Just as Ye Fuji, the platoon commander, stepped forward to push his comrades-in-arms, a thousand-pound timed bomb buried in dust exploded, and a huge wave of air threw some soldiers out of a distance of one or twenty meters. The second platoon commander Ye Fuxuan and the soldier Hong Hung Gan died on the spot, the eleventh squad leader Yang Jusheng was seriously injured and died, Shi Genshou's abdomen was blown open and his intestines flowed out, Zhang Zhongping's arm was blown off, Deng Qingxiang's head was blown unconscious, and all 33 people present were injured.
The bombing and repair instantly turned into a life-and-death rescue. The commanders and fighters were completely shrouded in a smoke screen of bullets and rain. They rushed to huddle, you cover me, I cover you, and many people threw themselves directly on the wounded, allowing steel balls and bullets to sting (shi). A group of people helped each other left and right. Life and death are of the same heart, and life and death are together. Our company, our comrades!
Iron-blooded Loyalty Fourteenth Company
Long and strong, iron-blooded loyalty, brave soldiers, heroic company! During the more than 200 days that the 14th Company was stationed at the Kefu and Waisu stations, it endured tremendous pressure and paid a heavy price. Six comrades-in-arms, Chen Fuhua, Hong Hung Gan, Ye Fuji, Yu Zhengxue, Zou Zhenlun, and Yang Jusheng, were killed, and 48 people, Huang Hugen, Huang Zhaocheng, Lin Yutian, and Cai Qingping, were wounded. They fought indomitable and bloody battles, and completed their tasks brilliantly again and again, creating the glory of the company.
The company was successively named "Hero Company" by the former Guangzhou Military Region, awarded the honorary titles of "Pacesetter Company" and "Pacesetter of Four Good Companies" by the Railway Corps, and was awarded the collective second-class merit twice, and seven squads, including the first platoon, the first reconnaissance group, and the 12th squad, were awarded the collective third-class merit; Zou Zhenlun was posthumously awarded personal second-class merit, and 84 people, including Zhang Zichu, Lin Zhongren, Du Quangen, and Lu Jisong, were awarded personal third-class merit. Deputy instructor Wang Zhanchao, as a representative of the former heroic model company of the Guangzhou Military Region, was invited to participate in the 1968 National Day activities, climbed the Tiananmen Tower, and participated in the National Day ceremony with Chairman Mao and central leaders; Huang Hugen, the leader of the sixth squad, as a representative of the heroic model soldiers of the railway soldiers, attended the 1969 National Day ceremony and the National Day reception held by Premier Zhou at Huairen Hall.
This is the fourteenth company of our heroes!
