The body is supported as a steel rope

Aid Vietnam to resist the United States (Episode 11) Hero Second Regiment

At 15:30 on August 11, 1967, the U.S. military dispatched 45 planes in a swarm, dropped more than 100 bombs, hit many steel beams and piers, and broke the Longbian Bridge, becoming a five-section broken bridge that could not be taken care of from end to end, and was paralyzed on the surging Red River......

On September 20, the air raid sirens sounded again. Zhang Tianyao, a soldier of the 12th squad of the 2nd Company, was in charge of the normal work of the winch. At this time, the enemy plane was already in the air, the winch suddenly lost control, the wire rope quickly retreated, and under the three-and-a-half-ton I-beam hanging from the wire rope, more than 10 people were working, and they were in great danger.

At this critical moment, Zhang Tianyao tightly grabbed the wire rope with both hands, used his body as support, and hurriedly twisted his left calf into another wire rope, and blood flowed out until the calf was brittle and broken, and he did not let go. The comrades-in-arms under the beam were saved, and our heroic soldier Zhang Tianyao fainted......

He was awarded a second-class meritorious service by the party committee of the detachment.

Work together to fight US imperialism

In Keshou Village, Taosheng Township, the organs of the Second Iron Regiment have been stationed here for more than 1,300 days and nights.

Here, the two regiment commanders Xu Ke and Xia Yuyuan, the two political commissars Chang Xili, Li Jian and other regiment leaders worked hard for the army to pass the three levels (that is, life and death, life, and policy) and spent countless sleepless nights.

Late one night in 1967, a US military plane dropped a dud bomb not far from the military service agency in charge of Dai Jinhai, an assistant in the logistics department.

Late one night, after the soldiers unloaded a large amount of materials and equipment such as radio stations from the train, they did not have any means of transportation, and they all relied on their arms and shoulders, each carrying at least 150 pounds of weight each time, walking along the sheep intestine path, sweating profusely, and soaking wet. The radio station was opened on the same day, and the liaison and communication with the superiors were realized.

Glorious history of the bridge over the pond

Aid Vietnam to resist the United States (Episode 11) Hero Second Regiment

The Yuechi Bridge was built here with the help of the Bridge Bureau of the Ministry of Railways of China in the 50s of the last century, and it condenses the friendship between the Chinese and Vietnamese peoples. Chen Guoping, a technical cadre from Guangdong, unfortunately died in the construction of the bridge. In order to commemorate this Chinese comrade who gloriously sacrificed his life for the cause of the Vietnamese people, the Vietnamese people erected a monument to Tran Quoc Ping at the east end of the Viet Chi Bridge to remember this internationalist fighter and China's Bethune. The commanders and fighters of the 2nd Iron Regiment who fought here took advantage of the gap between the battles to come here to pay respects and pay tribute to the heroes, and they were determined to follow in the footsteps of Chen Guoping's sacrifice and continue to write a new glorious chapter.

At 3:30 p.m. on November 1, 1966, the alarm sounded. Dozens of enemy planes suddenly took to the air one after another, dropping dozens of bombs, hundreds of rockets, and several thousand pineapple bombs within a radius of more than 800 meters. The construction site was suddenly full of fires, earth and rocks flew sideways, and gunpowder smoke filled the air. A large number of commanders and fighters who were working intensively did not have time to dodge and fell in pools of blood...... Many commanders and fighters woke up from their coma, shook off the dirt on their bodies, and began the battle of self-help and mutual rescue.

Zheng Xinghe, a health worker, had never experienced such a scene, he struggled to bandage the wounded one by one, his hands trembled a little, and Li Xuquan, a member of the Communist Youth League, encouraged him and said: "Don't be afraid, calm down, you bandage one, and I promise to carry one on my back." "This valiant soldier ran back and forth five times in half an hour over a distance of one kilometer, carrying five wounded people into cover, and when he continued to run for the sixth time to rescue the wounded, he was knocked down by a US bomb on the ridge and stopped his heartbeat......

In this bombing by US planes, Li Xuquan and 13 other comrades-in-arms died heroically, and more than 60 people were injured. They turned into a group of heroic sculptures in the smoke and flames, and like the Tran Quoc Binh Monument at the east end of the Viet Chi Bridge, they will always stand in the hearts of the Vietnamese people and the Chinese people.

Broken bones are unswerving

At about 3 o'clock in the afternoon of July 23, 1966, Liu Tingjiu, the commander of the 25th Company of the Second Iron Regiment, led the deputy platoon commander Shao Fuhai, the squad leader Sun Xianli, and the soldier Qu Xuhua to bundle a timing bullet not far from the K220 middle bridge, ready to let the brigade be dragged out to destroy.

Unexpectedly, this evil timed bomb suddenly exploded, and the five people were shattered in an instant. Judging by the broken clothes and figure, the comrades identified it as the company commander Liu Tingjiu. Instructor Cui Zhipeng ordered the whole company to search within a radius of 200 meters, and after two hours of searching, only some mutilated body fragments were found. The comrades washed the bones with clean water, divided them into four parts, wrapped them in new white cloth clothes, and put them in coffins for burial.

Before returning to China, the Second Iron Regiment agreed with the Vietnamese side to build a number of martyrs' cemeteries in An Pei, Waihe, Baohe and other places. The regimental organs and companies went to the cemetery in batches to pay respects and bid farewell to the martyrs.

The first memorial sweep of the first brigade and the farewell of the martyrs were very grand. The commanders and fighters first visited each grave, either to offer a cigarette or to fold a pine branch and place it in front of the tomb. Then form a square team to observe a moment of silence. Political commissar Li Jian delivered a memorial message, and the head of the regiment, Xia Yuyuan, led everyone to take the oath. Then, the soldiers of the neatly armed high machine company came out of the line, in front of the 10 high machine guns on the edge of the venue, the high machine guns pointed at a 60-degree angle to the blue sky, with a command, and at the same time pressed the trigger, 10 fire belts were straight connected to the earth and the clouds, the muzzle of the fire ball flashed on the pupils and helmets, and the full boxes of bullets hit one after another quickly, making a deafening explosion. To the distant mountains, to the clouds, to the sky to send an affectionate call, the distant echo has been transmitted between heaven and earth for a long time......
