The real situation is that the mainland has already reached a relevant agreement with the Philippines, but the Philippine side not only ignores the sovereignty of the mainland, but also pushes the fishermen to the forefront under the guise of fishermen's fishing, and uses innocent people to achieve its own political expansion goals and cover up its political schemes.
Since 2016, the two sides have reached "special arrangements" whereby, for example, ordinary Filipino fishermen can fish in specific areas of Scarborough Shoal. This reflects the mainland's humanitarian concern and also highlights the mainland's image as a responsible major country.
However, the Philippines has clearly crossed the red line this time, and it is using fishermen as a guise to satisfy its political expansionist desires. The Philippines is using the problems between China and the United States to satisfy its own intentions and implement its new South China Sea strategy. At the same time, it also uses small circles such as the United States, Japan, and the Philippines to attempt to expand near Scarborough Shoal and Ren'ai Jiao.
The Philippines has unilaterally violated the rules it had set with China, not only sending coast guard ships and official vessels to the vicinity of Scarborough Shoal on several occasions, but also trespassing into the waters near Scarborough Shoal on the mainland. Whether it is territorial land, territorial waters, or territorial airspace, they are all the territory of the mainland, and China's territory brooks no infringement.
From the standpoint of safeguarding national sovereignty, the mainland drove away Philippine coast guard ships and official vessels. But this caused strong resentment on the Philippine side, and the Philippines began to shout to the international community as a weakling. As a result, several countries have also begun to stand up in support of the Philippines.
A reporter interviewed the mainland embassy in the Philippines on this matter and asked the mainland its views on this matter. The mainland responded: "In the event of a maritime incident between China and the Philippines, there will always be some countries that stand up to support the Philippines." There are more than 200 countries in the world, and these countries are not representative of the whole world. ”
The Philippines' intentions are clear, and both the Scarborough Shoal incident and previous diplomatic incidents have fully exposed its ambitions.
On the issue of Second Thomas Shoal, the two countries reached an agreement. In July 2023, the mainland ambassador also met with the Philippine Secretary of Defense to reach peace talks on maritime issues and establish relevant agreements, which are also clearly announced on the websites of both sides.
However, the Philippines once again denied the agreement, saying that the agreement on Second Thomas Shoal was a matter for the previous administration and had nothing to do with the current Marcos administration. They have never been involved in the signing of any agreement and say that the so-called new model of Second Thomas Shoal is completely fabricated out of thin air.
Although the Philippines has voluntarily reneged on its promise and the common contract to "manage conflicts and mediate differences", this still does not change the fact that the Philippine government has reached peace talks with China.
The new model on China-Philippines maritime issues was jointly finalized by China and the current Philippine government. But now, in order to realize its national interests, the Philippines has taken the initiative to violate its commitments and carry out infringement and provocation.
