- From Yuanlu to Funan -
Funan has a "thick history and culture". As early as 5,000 years ago in the Neolithic Age, clans and tribes settled here. There are cultural relics such as Ho Thanh Terrace, Nguyen Thanh and Qixing Bridge in the New Chronological Era.
In 1957, the discovered Shang and Zhou city ruins: Taijia Temple site was selected as a national key cultural relics protection unit to fill the gap in the city. The Shang Dynasty wine vessel Dragon and Tiger Zun unearthed here is listed as a national first-class cultural relic, and is now stored in the National History Museum.

And the ruins on the deer are in Ruancheng Village, Funan County. "Lushang Huimeng" made this land in Funan County famous for thousands of years, and this place was placed in the Eastern Han Dynasty as "the original Lu County". In 1950, because it was located in the south of Fuyang, it was renamed "Funan" County.

Lü Meng was unable to go to school because of his family's poverty when he was young, so he was looked down upon and called "Amon". Lü Meng studied diligently and persevered in the battle of Rongma, and later he was known for his profound knowledge. Lu Su called him "knowledgeable and erudite, not Fuwu Ameng".
- From Yingshui to Huai River -
Funan County is located in the south of the Yinghe River and the north of the Huai River, and is a pearl of the Huai River Basin. In the "Huai Shui" chapter of "Water Jing Note", it says: "(Huai Shui) passes east through the south of the original Lu County, and Rushui comes from the northwest to inject it. That is, the deer of "Spring and Autumn". ”
And the Rushui mentioned in the text is today's Honghe. The place where the Honghe River and the Huai River meet is Wangjiaba, the starting point of this race. The Honghe River is also the boundary river between Anhui and Henan.

Another big river that runs through Funan is the Gu River. It comes out of the source of Linquan and flows into the Huai River through Funan. Therefore, in ancient times, the four long rivers of Huai, Ying, Ru and Gu, just like today's highway network, let Funan extend in all directions. At the same time, the geographical conditions of many rivers have also turned Funan into a water town in northern Anhui. There are many elements born of water in the local characteristics of Funan.

Funan is not only close to the Huai River, but also retains a section of the Huai River. These rivers were left in the Huai River control in the fifties of the last century, because the bends of the Huai River were partially straightened. The water surface of the Honghe River is wide, the breeze blows, and the waves are sparkling, which is also a very beautiful beauty. The ancient Huai River and the surrounding villages, farmlands, and grasslands are perfectly integrated into a landscape painting of the ancient Huai River.

The continuous flow of water has brought a bumper harvest of grain to Funan, brought the pastoral scenery of the fragrance of melons, and brought the wetland scenery of hundreds of birds contending, but also brought the heavy legacy of floods. Historically, the Huaihe River basin was harassed by the Yellow River and the Huai River. In particular, Funan has to bear the pressure of many rivers, with Wangjiaba as the forward, like a lonely hero to face the surging water from the west. Later, there was the "Wangjiaba Spirit" of giving up a small family and taking care of the overall situation for everyone.

- From Hi Zi Opera to Jiao Pi Wine -

When it comes to the Huaihe culture in Funan, we have to mention Funan's unique hi character opera. This niche drama, which is known as "the only drama in the world", is a gorgeous artistic wonder in the Funan area of Anhui Province.
For more than 100 years, Hi Zi Opera has sung on both sides of the Huai River with beautiful singing and beautiful melodies. Hi character opera is named after its many use of the word hi, probably formed in the Qing Jiaqing Daoguang period, mainly active in the middle and upper reaches of the Huai River. For thousands of years, the hard-working and simple children along the Huai River have not only inherited the Huai River culture from generation to generation, but also engraved in the memories of the Huai River children full of hope, suffering and tragedy.

The intangible cultural heritage handicrafts of Funan are also famous in northern Anhui. According to Ming Zhengde's "Yingzhou Chronicles", it is recorded: "Huaimeng is rich in water vitex (note: at that time, the wolfberry willow was called water vitex), which was harvested and processed, white as jade, tough as vine. ”
Among them, the wicker of Huanggang is soft and easy to bend, the thickness is uniform, the color is elegant, and through the novel design, it can be woven into a variety of simple and natural, beautiful shape, light and durable practical handicrafts. The traditional craftsmanship of Huanggang willow weaving is original and unique, such as traditional techniques such as warp knitting, vertical knitting, twisting knitting, flat knitting, flower weaving, etc. In 2011, the willow weaving (Huanggang willow weaving) was approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China to be included in the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
In the end, what can represent the abundance of Funan and Fu people has to be the Jiaopi wine that they are proud of. This is one of the special products of Funan County, which has been brewed as early as the Shang Dynasty for more than 3,000 years. It originated in the Han Dynasty and flourished in the Song Dynasty.
When Ouyang Xiu, a famous writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, was the governor of Yingzhou, he often boated in Jiaopi, drank Jiaopi wine with his friends, and left the ancient poem "Remembering Jiaopi": "The lotus flowers in Jiaopi shine on the water, and they smell the fragrance of flowers before ten miles." Jiaopi new wine ripe in August, autumn fish fat like jade", since then Jiaopi wine is famous all over the world.
