The United States' act of tearing up the INF Treaty has made Russia very angry. Therefore, Russia is not accustomed to the United States' intention to drive land-based intermediate-range missiles into the Asia-Pacific region. Moscow has responded directly by pointing out that if the United States really dares to do so, then Russia dares to consider nuclear deterrence as a response.
According to the "Reference News" network, Russia's ambassador-at-large Mashkov clearly pointed out that the US land-based medium-range missile into the Asia-Pacific region will pose a security threat. In response, Russia will be forced to respond. Mashkov noted that action in the area of nuclear deterrence, if necessary, is also one of the options.
According to Mashkov's briefing, the United States has threatened to deploy land-based medium-range and short-range missiles to the Asia-Pacific region within this year, and the US missiles have already participated in military exercises in the Asia-Pacific region. Similar weapons, too, have appeared in the European direction.
It can be seen that Russia's attitude toward the issue of US land-based intermediate-missile movements is very severe. As a nuclear-armed state, Russia has more than 5,000 nuclear warheads, but also bombers and nuclear submarines, as well as land-based intercontinental missile systems. So Moscow's warning to the United States is not limited to the verbal level, and the United States really has to weigh the consequences of military provocations.
