The Beijing Auto Show is coming to an end, and the new Magotan and the new Camry, two absolute competing models, can be said to be competing on the same stage to be scrutinized by professional audiences and car enthusiasts. So who of these two medium-sized evergreen cars is more successful? Who can win in the next competition? Let's take a look at the new car from the perspective of the car player.
The front of the all-new Magotan has become sportier and younger, with a flat grille and quadrangular light clusters integrated into a continuous layout, and the center is connected by a daytime running light strip with a Volkswagen logo and a continuous chrome strip connecting the light clusters, which once again enhances the layering of the vehicle. The front bumper is a standard three-section opening, complemented by a continuous chrome strip that animates the entire front end.
The front part of the all-new Camry is connected to the C-shaped headlight cluster through a continuous decorative strip, and the visual effect is sharper. The front bumper is filled with a frameless grille, which looks more avant-garde, while the left and right sides do not forget to add the air intake shape as a supplement, taking into account the sporty attributes. In addition, the all-new Camry is also available in a sporty front face with a black large-mouth grille and blacked-out trim for a more visually appealing look.
On the side of the body, the size of the two models is not much different, the length, width and height of the new Magotan are 4990/1854/1487mm, and the wheelbase is 2871mm, and the length, width and height of the new Camry are 4985/1840/1450mm, and the wheelbase is 2825mm. In terms of design style, the new Magotan is obviously more dynamic, with a crisp roof transition, a pronounced sense of swooping, and a blade-shaped wheel shape that makes it more aggressive. The all-new Camry is relatively much more modest, and it can also be said to be more calm.
At the rear, both cars have a ducktail-like design to enhance the sporty look, while the new Magotan has through-type taillights, while the all-new Camry has a "C" shaped embossed taillight, both of which echo the front of the car. Secondly, the rear bumper of the all-new Magotan is more complex, with the addition of black trim and continuous reflective strip embellishment, making the rear of the car more layered.
In terms of interior, the new Magotan is Volkswagen's latest family design language, with a large-size suspended central control screen and embedded instrument to form a dual-screen system, and some models also provide a co-pilot entertainment screen, and the pocket gear mechanism is not absent, catching up with the mainstream of fashion, and the overall sense of science and technology is stronger. The all-new Camry is still the style of Japanese fuel vehicles, with a small floating center control screen, but touch buttons are hidden under the screen, and the traditional mechanical gear lever is retained in the middle island area, which has a clear Toyota style.
In terms of power, the all-new Magotan offers either a 1.5T or 2.0T engine with a maximum power of 160 horsepower and 220 horsepower respectively, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The all-new Camry is offered with a 2.0-liter self-aspirated engine with a maximum power of 173 hp and a 2.0 HEV hybrid version, mated to a CVT gearbox and an E-CVT gearbox.
In terms of chassis, Magotan is a front MacPherson independent suspension + rear multi-link independent suspension, and Camry is a front MacPherson independent suspension + rear double wishbone independent suspension.
At present, the new Camry has been listed, with a price range of 171,800-206,800 yuan, and the price of the new Magotan has not yet been announced.
