Lee Jiachao paid tribute to workers from all walks of life in Hong Kong
On May Day, May 1, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, John Lee, posted on his personal social platform to introduce his visit to Lin Chui Estate in Chai Wan some time ago to learn about the daily work of front-line cleaning workers and caretakers. Mr Lee said that the HKSAR Government has been actively promoting labour welfare, and there is good news for workers on this year's Labour Day. The HKSAR Government has accepted the recommendations of the Minimum Wage Commission on enhancing the Statutory Minimum Wage review mechanism, including reviewing the Statutory Minimum Wage (SMW) rate once a year ("annual review") and adopting the formula to implement "annual review" to further protect the income of grassroots employees. He hoped that the HKSAR Government would work together with all sectors of the community to create a reasonable, fair and safe working environment for Hong Kong workers, and work together for the future of Hong Kong.
