Google will have a sound effect emoji button built into Android's phone app

author:cnBeta

The update of the Google Phone app will add sound effects to the Android dialer. As part of the beta update, the app may soon let you tap one of the six "audio emoji" buttons to play a snippet of sound that both sides of the call can hear.

Its content includes clapping, laughing, crying (sad trombone sliding), partying, drumming, and ...... Shit pile (making a fart sound). These buttons can be accessed during a call by tapping the options in the dialer overflow menu or the small flag at the bottom.

You'll probably want to try the "poop button" at least once with a trusted friend, because he won't be disgusted by my sense of humor. After that novelty wears off, who will actually use the feature?

Hopefully you'll see user-defined audio next, and maybe pre-recorded messages and text-to-speech shortcuts.

Actually, this might just be the product of the boredom of Google's engineers, and thankfully, the effect has a cooldown limit. Google I/O will be on May 14th, and hopefully we'll learn more about Google's thinking in this area.
