On April 28, the General Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued the "Notice on Promoting and Releasing the Main Technologies of Agricultural Leading Varieties in 2024", promoting and releasing 150 agricultural leading varieties, including 10 leading varieties of rape. The rapeseed variety "Qinyou 1618" cultivated by the Shaanxi Hybrid Rapeseed Research Center has been successfully selected as the leading agricultural variety in 2024 again due to its characteristics of high and stable yield, high quality and high oil, lodging resistance and density resistance, suitable for machine harvesting, cold resistance, drought tolerance, and salt and alkali tolerance, which is the third time that this variety has been selected as the national agricultural leading variety.
"Qinyou 1618" is a major rapeseed variety supported by the 13th Five-Year National Key R&D Program Project "Cultivation of New Varieties of High Yield, High Quality and Suitable for Mechanization in the Lower Reaches of the Yangtze River and Huanghuai Rapeseed Rape", which is suitable for planting in the Huanghuai Ecological Zone, the Yangtze River Basin Ecological Zone and the Spring Rape Area, and was registered in 2019 and transferred to Shaanxi Ronghua Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. for production and operation. In 2022, it was included in the list of achievements of entering the park and county by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and was selected as the leading national agricultural variety for three consecutive years from 2022 to 2024, and it is also the leading variety in Guanzhong Irrigation District of Shaanxi.
"Qinyou 1618" was tested in the national Huanghuai District in 2 years under the density of 25,000 plants/mu, all 21 pilots were upright, and 20 of the 21 pilots in the two years increased the yield, which was 8.5% higher than the control variety Qinyou 7, and the oil increase rate was as high as 16.73%, reaching a very significant level. In June 2020, the actual yield of rape harvest in Fanjiayuan Village, Qishan County, Shaanxi Province reached 313.12 kg/mu, and the output set a new record for rapeseed harvesting in Huanghuai District.
"Qinyou 1618" has strong drought tolerance, and also has outstanding performance in the Weibei arid plateau area with drought and little rain and frequent frost damage. In June 2023, the actual yield of "Qinyou 1618" will be measured in Yinjia Village, Fuping County, Weinan City, and the actual yield of machine harvest will reach 287.6 kg/mu. Since the introduction of planting in the village in 2021, the area of "Qinyou 1618" has increased year by year, and its planting area has expanded to more than 800 mu by 2023, effectively helping the development of agricultural industry and rural revitalization in the Weibei arid plateau area.
In addition, "Qin You 1618" also has a "good" performance in saline-alkali land. The salinity of the saline-alkali land in the Luyang Lake area of Weinan is 2.0‰-4.0‰, and the average PH value is 8.0-9.0, and the crops such as wheat and corn cannot grow normally in this area. In 2018, "Qinyou 1618" was successfully introduced in the area, showing strong saline-alkali tolerance, and the actual yield of machine harvest in the medium salinity (3.42‰) area reached more than 180 kg, which promoted the effective utilization of saline-alkali land.

"Qinyou 1618" has been tested and demonstrated in different ecological regions and different cultivation modes for many years and at multiple points and field production inspections, showing excellent characteristics such as "high yield of rod hard lodging resistance, large angle coarse grains, oil production, cold resistance, drought resistance, salt and alkali tolerance, dense resistance and late machine harvesting", and has been promoted more than 370 million mu in the past three years, which will play an important role in promoting the green, efficient and high-quality development of the rapeseed industry and rural revitalization.
