Mr. Xu said that he has lived on Shanhe Island since he was a child, and has traveled back and forth for decades from ferries to steel bridges. Today, the new bridge has been completed and opened to traffic, so you have to take a photo and celebrate.
Mr. Xu said: "Every time I cross the river, I have to take the ferry, which is very difficult. When it was windy and rainy, we couldn't cross the river, and sometimes we couldn't go to school. We are very happy to have this bridge, it is high, big and wide. ”
It is understood that there are more than 2,300 residents and more than 100 enterprises on Shanhe Island. In September 2021, the only way for Shanhe Island to pass to the outside world, the Gecko Bridge connecting Shanhe Island, an eco-science and technology new city, and Wantou Town, Guangling District, collapsed into the water after being hit by a tugboat. A month later, the makeshift steel temporary bridge was opened to traffic. Since then, in order to improve the mobility of the island's residents in the long term, the reconstruction of the Gecko River Bridge has officially started in early 2023. The rebuilt Gecko River Bridge starts from Shanhe Village Road on Shanhe Island and ends at Binhe Road in Wantou Town, with a total length of 626 meters, including 322 meters of road works and 304 meters of bridge works, designed as two-way two motorized lanes and two non-motorized lanes. The main bridge adopts a continuous steel box girder basket arch bridge structure, and the bearing capacity is significantly improved. After more than a year of hard work, the project was completed ahead of schedule.
Yang Jun, director of the engineering department of Wanfu Company of the Municipal Urban Investment Group, introduced: "We have paid close attention to the organization of capable forces, overcome the difficulties of the flood season, including underwater construction, and work overtime. It took us 16 months, two months ahead of schedule, to complete the construction task. ”
The people's livelihood project has run out of "acceleration" and built a "bridge of happiness" for the local people. Cheng Dongxun, deputy director of the Shanhe Village Committee, said: "It has provided convenience for the people of Shanhe Island to travel for medical treatment, including grocery shopping, and has also greatly improved the operating conditions of 109 enterprises in Shanhe Village." ”
