LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) is a widely used green building and city certification system established by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), which has been recognized by countries in different climate zones around the world and is known as the "Oscar of green building".

In February 2024, Gaoji Zelin Pharmacy achieved LEED O+M (Building Operations and Maintenance) Gold and LEED Zero net-zero certifications, becoming the first pharmacy retail space in the world to achieve LEED Zero net-zero certification. This honor is a high recognition and affirmation of Gaoji Health's efforts to actively assume social responsibility and promote green development, and it is also an important milestone on the ESG path of Gaoji Health.

In the LEED certification process, Gaoji Health faced the situation of a gap in the certification of pharmacy retail space, as a pioneer, Gaoji Health accepted this challenge and gradually explored the standard certification paradigm applicable to pharmacy retail space throughout the certification process. From the particularity of the pharmacy retail space, to the comfort of the user experience, to the dazzling score on the "scorecard", Gaoji Health has delivered a valuable answer sheet on the road of ESG construction.

Pharmacy retail space has the particularity of being different from ordinary retail space, and it is necessary to create a constant temperature and humidity environment for the storage of specific drugs through small cold storage. In terms of resource conservation, the pharmacy promotes electronic and paperless documents, reduces paper waste from the source, and classifies and recycles drug packaging and other wastes in accordance with LEED requirements to promote waste recycling。

Focus on patient comfort and create a healthy environment. Gaoji Zelin Pharmacy often carries out offline activities such as popular science lectures and medication guidance, and it is particularly important to create an excellent environmental experience for patients and employees due to the large number of patients and long stay time. Based on this, each floor of the store is equipped with a PM2.5 filtered fresh air system, using environmentally friendly and low-emission building materials, and using energy-saving lighting technology to provide good air and light quality to create a more comfortable and healthy space.

Site selection and transportation are the most prominent sections on the scorecard for Gaoji Zelin Pharmacy to achieve LEED O+M Gold certification (out of 14 out of 13 for the project). Relying on the intelligent location selection system of Gaoji Health Big Data, Gaoji Zelin Pharmacy has chosen the core urban area of Shanghai, which is close to Huashan Hospital, which is closer to patients and makes it more convenient for employees and patients to visit. Behind the double LEED certification and the world's first LEED Zero net-zero certified pharmacy retail space is the practical results of Gaoji Health's ESG efforts and commitment to improving the company's sustainable development level. In 2023, Gaoji Health established an ESG special committee composed of management and an ESG working group composed of executives, integrating ESG strategies from top-level system design to digital system research and development and front-line business practices.

Focusing on the "dual carbon goals", Gaoji Health has carried out training for all employees, established relevant systems for the company's greenhouse gas emissions, and promoted the digital team to optimize the internal system in order to monitor and manage the greenhouse gas carbon emission data of stores, warehousing and logistics and office spaces and the use of related carbon emission equipment in a timely manner. In addition to stores, Gaoji Health also adopts energy-saving cold chain technology in distribution centers, implements AGV black light operations, and promotes the use of new energy transportation vehicles, so as to improve its own operational efficiency while "turning green".

In terms of fulfilling its social responsibilities, Gaoji Health has built a "15-minute walking healthy life circle" for grassroots residents in China, relying on more than 15,000 smart pharmacies, more than 5,000 cooperative pharmaceutical factories and 31 smart logistics warehouses across the country, forming a strong industrial supply chain, so that community residents can reach their all-round health management needs in two scenarios: "home" and "store" within a 15-minute walk.
