On April 29th and 30th, the launch of the 19th "Chunhui Cup" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Overseas Students and the signing ceremony of the "Chunhui Cup" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Xiong'an Base for Overseas Students were successfully held. Chen Dali, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, Wang Daquan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Service Center for Scholarly Study of the Ministry of Education, Li Xiaozhe, Deputy Director of the Service Center for Scholarly Study of the Ministry of Education, Hu Yixiong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Beijing Overseas Scholars Center, Li Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Xiong'an New Area, Men Yang, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Xiong'an New Area, and Wang Jiaqin, Chairman of the Education Development Foundation of Xiong'an New Area, attended the relevant activities.
Li Tao said in his speech that at present, Xiong'an New Area has entered the stage of large-scale construction and undertaking Beijing's non-capital functions, and the focus of work has shifted to high-quality construction, high-level management, and high-quality development, which provides a once-in-a-lifetime development opportunity for the majority of overseas talents. The "City of the Future" is wonderful, and the heart yearns for it" contributes wisdom and strength.
Chen Dali said in his speech that the Ministry of Education has always attached great importance to the work of overseas talents, and will firmly anchor the demand for overseas talents, further expand and strengthen the brand of the "Chunhui Cup" competition, firmly anchor the development direction of the times, empower the accelerated development of new quality productivity, firmly anchor the local development goals, and build a "Chunhui" city of innovation. It is hoped that Xiong'an New Area and the Overseas Study Service Center of the Ministry of Education will further strengthen cooperation, give full play to the role of the "Chunhui Cup" as a national innovation and entrepreneurship platform, attract and gather more overseas talents to take root in Xiong'an, realize their dreams in Xiong'an, and promote the successful experience to key cities across the country, so as to make greater contributions to the construction of a strong country in education, science and technology, and talents.
Wang Daquan said in his speech that this event opened the prelude to the comprehensive cooperation between the Overseas Study Service Center of the Ministry of Education and the Management Committee of Xiong'an New Area, and hoped to work together with Xiong'an, with "Chunhui" as the medium and "innovation" as the media, so that more outstanding overseas talents can understand Xiong'an, take root in Xiong'an, and contribute wisdom and strength to the high-standard and high-quality development of Xiong'an New Area. At the same time, the "Chunhui Cup" competition will also continue to make efforts in building an efficient service network, promoting the construction of systems and mechanisms, and building a service system for studying abroad to serve the country, so as to accelerate the development of new quality productive forces and make greater contributions to the in-depth implementation of the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education, the strategy of strengthening the country with talents and the strategy of innovation-driven development.
The launching ceremony was broadcast live online, and Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, and Lin Xiaoqing, Counsellor and Consul in charge of Education Affairs of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Sydney, delivered speeches online, introducing in detail the current situation and development needs of Chinese students studying abroad in the two countries, as well as the work carried out in the sub-divisions of the competition and the specific measures for the next step. Chen Jing, vice president of the China Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and executive secretary general of the Chunhui Enterprise Alliance of Chinese Overseas Students, gave a keynote speech entitled "Building a Returned Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development Ecology", and Yang Guanghua, the representative of the "Chunhui Cup" competition, spoke on his own experience, studying abroad to serve the country, and devoting himself to the construction of Xiong'an.
At the ceremony, the signing ceremony of the "Chunhui Cup" Xiong'an Base for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Overseas Students was also held.
It is understood that by the end of 2023, the "Chunhui Cup" competition sponsored by the Ministry of Education has been successfully held for 18 consecutive sessions, and a total of 4,059 outstanding shortlisted projects have been selected, involving 9 major professional fields such as biomedicine, electronic information, new energy, and new materials, and more than half of the participating overseas students have doctoral degrees, and more than 90% have master's degrees. According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 1,400 high-tech enterprises in China with the first participant of the shortlisted project as a legal person, covering 107 cities in 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country, and nearly half of the overseas students have been selected into the national and local high-level talent introduction support plan. At the same time, the competition has expanded 14 overseas sub-divisions around the world, involving 60 jurisdictions of Chinese embassies and consulates abroad, covering more than 90% of Chinese students studying abroad in major study destination countries around the world, and has established a full-chain innovation and entrepreneurship service network for overseas students from abroad to domestic and from national to local, involving project cultivation, selection, docking, incubation and industrialization.
In the next step, Xiong'an New Area and the Overseas Study Service Center of the Ministry of Education will jointly promote the implementation of the "Chunhui Cup" Xiong'an Base Co-construction, rely on the base to deeply participate in the construction and development of the new area, give full play to the resource advantages of the "Chunhui Cup" competition, continue to introduce outstanding overseas talents and projects for Xiong'an, and help Xiong'an accelerate the creation of an innovation highland and a hot land for entrepreneurship in the new era.
During the event, the roadshow docking activities of the award-winning projects of the previous "Chunhui Cup" competition were held simultaneously, and 36 high-quality projects with the willingness to land visited and inspected the Science and Technology Innovation Center of the Start-up Zone, the Comprehensive Service Center of the Start-up Zone, the Xiong'an Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, and the urban construction site of the Rongdong Area to understand the construction and development of the new area.
The event was hosted by the Overseas Study Service Center of the Ministry of Education, the Party Working Committee and the Management Committee of Xiong'an New Area, undertaken by the Party and Mass Work Department and Public Service Bureau of Xiong'an New Area, and supported by the Xiong'an Center for Overseas Scholars and the Xiong'an Education Development Foundation.
