In February 2024, from the Aegean Sea to the shores of the Bohai Sea, the Tianjin women's water polo team welcomed a Greek coach. The 53-year-old Pavlides Theoharis was invited by Sun Yating, a former member of the team and then head coach of the Tianjin women's water polo team, to serve as the head coach of the team.

Theoharis has coached the women's water polo team, Olympiaks, a top club in Greece, and has led the team to win the UEFA Champions League and European Cup many times. He has an indissoluble bond with Chinese water polo: Sun Yating played under Olympiax in 2009, many Chinese players impressed him when he led the coach of the Canadian team to China in 2017, and Theo Harris helped the team win the women's water polo gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games and qualify for the Paris Olympics in 2023 as the head coach of the Chinese women's water polo team.

In this new year, he will lead the Tianjin women's water polo team to prepare for the 2024 National Women's Water Polo Championship in Shandong in May. "In China, water polo clubs are not common, and the players usually focus on training, and many young players lack the training of the game," said Theo Harris, "Every coach has his own training method, and my secret is to practice hard, and comprehensively improve the technical and tactical level of the players by strengthening confrontation, strengthening basic skills, and increasing actual combat experience." In Theo Harris's view, "Tianjin women's water polo team has created three consecutive National Games championships in the past, although the team is in the stage of replacing the old with the new, our goal is to hit the National Games championship next year." ”
