The new AI system assists surgeons in endoscopic surgery

Tokyo-based start-up Anaut has recently developed the Eureka Alpha system, which analyzes endoscopic images through AI to assist surgeons in real time during surgical procedures, improving surgical accuracy and reducing surgical difficulty. Anaut applied to the Ministry of Health and Welfare for approval in June 2023, which was approved on April 12 this year, and the Eureka Alpha system can be used in surgeries, and the company has now sold the system to more than 100 hospitals in Japan. In endoscopic surgery, the surgeon inserts an endoscope (a tube with a camera and a lamp on the end) into a small opening in the abdomen. This surgery does not require a large incision, and the surgeon is able to see what's going on inside the patient and perform the associated medical procedures, reducing the patient's risk and speeding up the recovery time. But endoscopic surgery is too much skill and experience, and the Eureka Alpha system can assist surgeons in doing so.

Google is testing new AI features to help you practice speaking English

Perhaps many people are not in a position to interact face-to-face with foreigners, and Google's recently tested "Speaking practice" feature is expected to alleviate this problem and enhance learners' speaking skills. Google Search Labs is currently testing the feature in Argentina, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Venezuela, with the potential to expand to more countries around the world. The feature enhances English speaking practice with generative AI and helps learners improve speaking with examples.

IKEA announces the transition to artificial intelligence: the development of proprietary AI tools is a "mandatory" knowledge for employees at headquarters

IKEA's parent company, Ingka Group, recently claimed that it will carry out an "artificial intelligence transformation", requiring more than 3,500 employees at IKEA's headquarters to take "compulsory" AI knowledge, while also expanding a range of AI businesses. IKEA claims that 3,000 junior employees and 500 supervisors at its headquarters are trained in various forms of AI, requiring basic AI knowledge and understanding of how to use generative AI tools, and IKEA executives meet regularly to study "how to grasp AI trends and design business strategies". For employees with a PhD in data science, machine learning or large language models, IKEA also offers a dedicated training program to develop their AI-related skills. In addition, IKEA is currently working with other manufacturers to develop its own AI tools, including Hej AI, which was previously developed with Microsoft, which can be used for graphic generation in the furniture sector, business presentation production, and more. In addition, the company has launched the IKEA AI assistant exclusively on OpenAI's GPT store platform to provide customers with home improvement suggestions.

Executives at India's second-largest company predict that generative AI will "destroy" human customer service jobs as soon as a year

In a recent interview with the Financial Times, K Krithivasan predicted that the widespread use of generative AI could lead to the decline of customer service jobs as soon as a year. K Krithivasan is the principal of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), an Indian IT giant. The company is the second-largest company in India by market capitalization, with over 616,000 employees worldwide. Krithivasan believes generative AI is a great alternative to customer service roles and reduces business operating costs. Krithivasan says that while the impact of AI on human jobs is currently being observed, this will change as multinational customers adopt generative AI. Krithivasan believes that with the most aggressive push, generative AI could seamlessly replace human customer service jobs "in about a year or so."

The first AI-powered formula car is over: the situation is high, but the team believes it is pushing the boundaries of "pushing the boundaries of science"

The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) has come to an end in its first race, and in qualifying time trials, autonomous cars equipped with cameras and AI systems are so frequent that it will be difficult for the driverless Dallara Super Formula to complete the lap without conditions. The race was held at the Yas Marina Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Formula 1 circuit, and the existing unmanned self-driving formula cars were struggling to reach the level of human drivers, not only falling significantly behind in terms of speed, but also experiencing malfunctions such as running around, not being able to drift properly through corners, and suddenly leaving the track. The crews who maintain the race say the mistakes were predictable, that they are not sighing because of the conditions, and that they believe the self-driving cars are "pushing the boundaries of science." About an hour after the start of the first lap of the A2RL, the AI riders completed eight laps of the race, and in the end the Tum team took the win.
