Among them, the national standard of "Safety Technical Requirements for Companion Animal (Pet) Products" is a recommended national standard for the safety of pet products (standard number: GB/T 43839-2024), according to the official information of the National Standardization Administration, the standard will be officially implemented on October 1, 2024, and will be centralized and implemented by TC541 (National Companion Animal (Pet) Standardization Technical Committee), and the competent authority is the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
According to the standard interpretation information released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the standard is aimed at pet daily necessities, cleaning and care products, hygiene products, environmental products and other products, clarifying the requirements for product raw materials, mechanical properties, physical properties, chemical safety, electrical safety and product safety identification, etc., and providing corresponding verification methods to prevent and reduce potential unsafe factors that may cause harm to people and pets in pet products to the greatest extent.
The standard adapts to the development of the scientific and technological level of pet products in the mainland and the market demand of the industry, and at the same time draws on the standards, regulations, directives and other requirements of international pet products to keep the production of pet products in the mainland synchronized with the international technical level.

Terrestrial pet products include: daily necessities (nests, cages, bowls, leashes, etc.), oral cleaning products (toothpaste, etc.), toiletries (shampoo, hair conditioner, etc.), sanitary products (urine pads, wet wipes, etc.), environmental products (deodorant, etc.)
Aquatic pet supplies include: aquariums, fish tanks, etc., amphibian/reptile pet supplies include: breeding boxes, landscaping decoration supplies, etc.

Requirements - The overall requirements of the standard are: pet products should not cause harm to humans and pets under normal use and reasonably foreseeable misuse.
1. Requirements for terrestrial pet products: edge and tip, metal surface exposed coating corrosion resistance, color fastness, electrical safety, heavy metals, phthalate plasticizer limits.
2. Requirements for physicochemical and hygienic indicators of cat litter: including moisture, aflatoxin B content, heavy metal (lead, arsenic) content, and microbiological indicators.
3. Requirements for the assessment of oral cleaning and care products: raw material requirements, limits of harmful substances, and microbiological indicators.
4. Requirements for the assessment of toiletries: raw material requirements, limits of harmful substances, microbiological indicators, toxicological safety. PS: The surfactant used in the raw material requires that the product should be a chemical that has been confirmed to be degradable, and it and its degradation products are harmless to animals, plants and the environment in terms of the current level of scientific and technological awareness. The primary biodegradability of the surfactant is not less than 90% or the final aerobic biodegradation of the surfactant is not less than 60%.
5. Requirements for the assessment of sanitary products: pH value, migratory fluorescent substances, lead (Pb), arsenic (AS), mercury (Hg), ethylene oxide residue, active ingredient stability, microbiological indicators, sterilization, antibacterial, antibacterial performance, toxicological safety.
