Reading the history of the founding generals, many people have experienced nine deaths and a lifetime, and Ye Fei is no exception. The closest to death was the assassination of the Lion's Head Shop, where he was shot in the head, chest and arm. The bullet in the chest remained in the body. It can be said that he broke free from the arms of death.

Many military fans and friends know about Ye Fei's assassination. But who did it? Was it the enemy who did it, or was it his own people? There are many doubts. In this article, I will talk about this incident that made Ye Fei "unforgettable and unforgettable".

Ye Fei was assassinated in the lion's head shop, and he was shot three times but did not die, who did it?

(1) The lion's head shop escaped death

The general course of events is as follows: One day in the winter of 1933, Ye Fei made an appointment with a comrade to connect at the inn of the Shishitou ferry in Fu'an County. This ferry port is about 30 kilometers away from the county seat, and because it is a traffic artery, there are many people coming and going. Choosing such a place joint is not easy to attract attention. This inn is also a traffic station organized by the Mindong underground.

Ye Fei came down from the mountain where the guerrillas were stationed early in the morning and arrived at the inn at the junction at noon. At this time, before the person from the joint arrived, the innkeeper arranged for Ye Fei to go to the second floor, which is also the place where the joint was to eat. When he was eating, he heard someone going upstairs, and Ye Fei thought it was someone who came. But when he looked back, there were three strangers who came upstairs, rushing straight towards him. Just as Ye Fei was about to pull out his gun, the three of them held him down and shot him directly in the head, causing Ye Fei to fall on the floor on the spot.

Although he was shot in the head, fortunately he didn't hit the vital point, and Ye Fei's mind was still clear. The three men snatched the pistol and notebook from him and went downstairs. Ye Fei thought that the three of them had gone downstairs, so he looked up to see the situation. This time it was broken, it turned out that only two of the three people went down, and one stayed at the staircase to observe Ye Fei. As soon as this person saw Ye Fei raise his head, he immediately shouted: "Not dead yet, not dead yet!" and immediately ran over and fired two shots at Ye Fei, one of which hit the chest and the other in the arm.

These two shots also missed the point. This time, Ye Fei learned his lesson and lay motionless. Then someone shouted, "Hurry up, go away." Ye Fei heard the person upstairs running downstairs, and also heard the noisy sound of people in the inn downstairs running out of the store.

After a long time, there was no movement around. Ye Fei only looked up at this time: there was no sound all around, and there was blood on the floor beside him. After making sure that there was no one, driven by the desire to survive, he tried his last bit of strength to climb to the staircase, and then climbed down the stairs step by step, and finally climbed to a small ditch behind the inn, no longer had the strength, and passed out.

There was a village near the inn with an underground organization and a peasant association. At noon, the gun rang out at the inn, and the people of the village branch knew that there was a situation. At about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, there was no one near the inn, and the village branch sent people to check the situation, and when they found Ye Fei, they carried him into the village and asked a doctor to do temporary treatment for him.

It was a big hit! The three shots that almost hit the body did not hit the vital point. After being shot, Ye Fei endured the severe pain in the wound and was unusually calm. About 7 or 8 days later, Ye Fei was sent to the mountain guerrilla station, where he underwent surgery to remove the bullets in his head and arms.

(2) Who did it?

The lion's head shop joint is an extremely confidential matter. How could Ye Fei be assassinated suddenly? Who did it?

In his memoirs, Ye Fei said that it was done by the "special team sent by Fu'an County". He also said, "Because our strength in the area around the lion's head is relatively strong, after those spies assassinated me, they did not dare to stay for a long time and hurriedly returned to Fu'an County." When the leader of the special forces saw Ye Fei's notebook, he knew that he was a "big man", so he immediately sent the spies back to cut off Ye Fei's head. By the time the spies arrived at the Lion's Head Inn, Ye Fei had already been rescued. The next day, the enemy also sent a team to block several villages within a radius of ten miles from the lion's head, searching for Ye Fei, and tossing for a whole week.

Judging from the above memories in Ye Fei's memoirs, it should have been done by the enemy, and the strange thing is that Ye Fei himself had other statements before this.

Ye Fei was assassinated in the lion's head shop, and he was shot three times but did not die, who did it?

Zeng Zhi, who also worked in Mindong back then, talked about this incident several times in her memoirs, and she once heard Ye Fei say that he was almost shot dead by the county plainclothes team at the Lion's Head Inn in Fu'an. Later, a murderer who assassinated Ye Fei was captured, and as soon as a local cadre saw the murderer, "without asking a word, he shouted orders in a panic, and was about to be dragged out and shot." Ye Fei was present at the time, "Seeing the murderer turn around and scold this cadre: You are so ruthless! What do you know about me?"

Why did this cadre have such an abnormal attitude when he saw the murderer? He obviously knew the murderer, so why did he not ask a word or let the murderer say a word, and hurriedly ordered him to be "pulled out and shot"?

Ye Fei told Zeng Zhi at the time that he was "deeply puzzled by this and has always suspected that this cadre had anything to do with the assassination of the lion's head." It means that the assassination may have been instigated by someone else.

Because Ye Fei had just arrived in Mindong, Zeng Zhi "persuaded him not to be suspicious".

After a period of contact, Zeng Zhi described this cadre in his memoirs: "He did not share the sky with Jiang Jun and the gentry and landlords, and resolutely implemented the organizational principles and lines, had firm beliefs, and was resolute in the revolution. However, because he did not really come into contact with Marxism-Leninism and did not receive much organizational training, he worked in the countryside for a long time and became brothers and sisters with bandits from all walks of life...... Treat others with suspicion and precautions. That is to say, the revolution is resolute, but there are habits of the rivers and lakes.

At this time, Zeng Zhi thought that Ye Fei's suspicions were reasonable.

(3) Why is there a difference between Ye Fei's statements before and after?

Ye Fei's memoirs were written in the 80s of the last century. As for the assassination of the lion's head shop, why is it different from what was said back then? This point, during the first people's congress in 1954, Ye Fei's words to Zeng Zhi may be a commentary on this matter. Ye Fei said, "In the end, he died heroically for the revolution." As survivors, we don't have to worry about it anymore."

From these records, it can be seen that Ye Fei himself has doubts about the assassination of the lion's head shop. In the revolutionary years, when the struggle environment was complicated and the organizational building was still in its infancy, it was not surprising that it was sometimes possible to take extraordinary measures to deal with internal problems, and the Nanyang Village incident (which almost cost Ye Fei his life later) was somewhat similar.
