Hengshan has become a typical demonstration area for the development of the sheep industry that is well-known throughout the country. "If you want to eat mutton and go to northern Shaanxi, the number of mutton in northern Shaanxi is Hengshan" has become an indisputable fact.
At present, Hengshan is actively establishing ten major systems of the sheep industry, improving the industrial chain, upgrading the value chain, and gradually building a whole industrial chain system covering breeding, mutton food processing, cashmere processing, and health care products. In 2023, the number of sheep raised in the region will reach 2.9 million, and the output value of the whole sheep industry chain will exceed 3.8 billion yuan. Hengshan was listed as the only national geographical indication protected product (Hengshan mutton) demonstration area in the province in 2023, and was rated as a typical county and district of the whole industrial chain of modern agriculture at the provincial level and a provincial demonstration county for family farms.
The development of industry and agriculture has complemented each other since ancient times. At the beginning of the development of the coal industry, Hengshan established the concept of "taking oil first from coal", guided by the construction of "National Energy and Chemical Base Innovation Service Area", continuously extended the chain of the coal industry, and embarked on a transformation road of "coal to electricity and coal to chemical products", and constantly created a new situation for the development of Hengshan.
In the new year, Hengshan District will continue to expand its coal production capacity, striving to reach an annual coal output of 25 million tons, and launch the Huanghaojie Coal Mine Railway and Hengtaitong Coal Container Station Project to develop the coal washing industry with high quality. We will guide the efficient, intensive, and intelligent mining of coal mines, build a new intelligent mine, continue to improve the capacity of coal conversion on site, and start the construction of the Shaanxi-Henan converter station "Shaanxi Power Transmission" channel, the second phase of Yuneng Hengshan Coal Power 2×1000 MW, Shaanxi Zhaoshipan Coal Power Phase II 21×000 MW and other major power points and UHV transmission projects, and use coal-fired thermal energy to complete the Yuheng 2×350 MW cogeneration project, creating a "coal, electricity, heat" circular economy model.

At the ceremony of the 41st Peony Cultural Festival in Luoyang, Henan Province, the old waist drum of Hengshan shined, playing the heroism of the yellow earth and the spirit of Hengshan people. As we all know, the old waist drum of Hengshan has undertaken important performance tasks in the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the China-Central Asia Summit, and the Northern Shaanxi Folk Song Concert of the National Center for the Performing Arts, and has frequently appeared in major events. In 2024, Yokoyama Old Waist Drum was invited to participate in the Berlin International Travel Trade Exhibition, which was loved and praised by foreign friends. The old waist drum of Hengshan not only played in Shaanxi and went to the whole country, but also appeared on the world stage and became a beautiful cultural business card with a good reputation. It is understood that since 2023, Hengshan Laowaist Drum has accepted a total of 120 orders, driving more than 500 jobs and increasing direct economic income by more than 1,000 yuan. According to incomplete statistics, during the Spring Festival in 2024, there will be more than 500,000 tourists in Hengshan District, driving a comprehensive income of 250 million yuan.
