In the place where there is Pinus sylvestris

Ran Huaizhou

With a yearning for the Great Khing'an Mountains, I rushed to Jiagedaqi. Jiagedaqi is an Oroqen language that means a place with pine sylvestris sylvestris.

Outside the car window, there was a vast plain of Songnen plains, white flowing clouds, black cultivated fields, and yellow grasslands that were about to wake up, competing to retreat towards the car, villages with a few wisps of green smoke rising from the car, frozen rivers and depressions, like mirrors, reflecting the light, small flocks of sheep, horses, and cattle leisurely grazing on dry grass, eagles and some unknown birds and finches flying up and down freely, and cars, tractors, and horse-drawn carts passing by from time to time, and some low hills and small woods could be seen. It's just that I haven't seen the imaginary Daxing'an Mountains, and the sky is gradually graying. After the red sunset disappeared, there were sporadic flashes of lights, and nothing else was visible.

Suddenly, a large light appeared in front of the train, and this was Jiagedaqi. When I woke up at five o'clock the next morning, the sun had risen and the were jumping up and down on the branches of the larch. With a sense of novelty, Lao Song and I went to climb the West Mountain. Surrounded by mountains, Jiagedaqi sits in a river valley where the Gan River, a tributary of the Nen River, flows. The weather was cold, but the air was exceptionally fresh, cool and refreshing. Under the morning sun, Jiagedaqi is a golden yellow, and the frozen Gan River is shining, as if it is dancing there, and it reflects the mountains, making Jiagedaqi even more magnificent.

Lao Song is an enthusiastic middle-aged man, medium build, Shandong accent, speaking unhurriedly, giving people a very soft feeling. With a black face, glowing red, always smiling, and speaking softly, "hey, hey" twice. He is not the rugged Shandong man that people have in their impressions, but seems to be a very gentle and somewhat chatty Shandong sister-in-law. Later, I found out that someone really called him that.

Lao Song can be said to be a Jiagedaqi person. In 1964, when the country decided to fully develop the Great Khing'an Mountains, he was the first to come here with the vanguard of the railway soldiers. At that time, he was the instructor of the company; He always smiled silently when asked about his achievements, and he could no longer hide his pride when he talked about the railroad soldiers building the railroad here. After two "hey, hey" two sounds, he began to talk endlessly.

"We came to Jiagedaqi with the 'four unlikes' pulling the 'Lele cart'. At that time, there were only two abandoned wooden houses, which were in a dilapidated state. There were waist-deep weeds everywhere, so we pitched our tents in the grass, and Jiagedaqi became a tent city. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, in order to plunder the timber of the mainland, the Japanese invaders went to the Great Khing'an Mountains, but they were only along the river, and did not really gain a foothold here. After the liberation, the state forestry department once planned to develop the Great Khing'an Mountains, but because of the severe cold and inconvenient transportation, it was not realized. In 1964, the railroad soldiers finally gained a foothold here. Look at how much has changed in Jiagedaqi now! Four- and five-story buildings are everywhere. It has become the political, economic and cultural center of the Greater Khing'an Mountains, the hub of transportation, and a city with a population of 160,000. ”

After listening to Lao Song's introduction, I felt that Jiagedaqi was beautiful and magnificent. I asked Lao Song:

"What is the reason why you are able to hold on here?"

"I think it's simpler. Lao Song said: "This is the call of the state, can we not respond to it? The development of the Great Khing'an Mountains is an extremely important task in developing the mainland's national economy." Since it is a task, someone must complete it, and we cannot push it to others. Moreover, this is still an urgent task, because the proportion of mature and overmature forests in the Daxing'an Mountains is very large, and if they are not harvested in time, a large number of forests will decay, which will cause huge losses to the country. When I think of this, I feel that the responsibility is even greater, and I have the strength to overcome difficulties. ”

After speaking, he closed his lips, and his expression looked a little grim. His mind was obviously back to those years of hard struggle.

Yes, it is really not an easy task to develop the Great Khingan Mountains and build a railway here. There are countless large and small rivers here, some of which flow into the Heilongjiang River, some into the Erguna River, and some into the Nenjiang River, which brings a lot of difficulties to the construction of roads. The moist meadow soil and peat soil between the ditches and ponds, and the alluvial soil covered with gravel on both sides of the river, form a thick permafrost layer in winter, and the high terrain can only melt at the end of summer. On shady slopes and depressions, there is a perennial permafrost, 60 meters thick at its thickest point. Because of the poor permeability, the ground is often waterlogged in summer, making it difficult to construct. Construction in winter, the difficulty is even greater. The average temperature here is below zero degrees Celsius throughout the year, with eight months of ice and lows close to -60 degrees Celsius. However, the old Song Dynasty finally built a railway here, creating conditions for the comprehensive development of the Great Khing'an Mountains.

In Jiagedaqi, I deeply feel that one of the outstanding characteristics of the people here is hospitality. Lao Song was the same, he not only enthusiastically served as a guide for me, but also took out a flying dragon that he had refrigerated and took out to make soup for me. The flying dragon, also called the grouse, is a treasure of the Great Khing'an Mountains, which was sent to the court as a tribute six or seven hundred years ago. It is said that the Queen Mother of the West likes to drink the Flying Dragon Soup the most. Now, the state also entertains foreign guests with such treasures. To be honest, I didn't really taste the delicious and fragrant flavor of the flying dragon soup. However, I deeply realized Lao Song's heart.

In the evening, he accompanied me to climb Dongshan again. Halfway up the mountain, there is a newly built pavilion, where we once again look at Jiagedaqi, and the distant or near, thick or light mountains. At this time, the sunset is shining, the clouds are floating, and under the blue sky, Jiagedaqi is brilliant. However, in Jiagedaqi, this place where there is a sylvestris pine, I did not see the sylvestris pine. Come to think of it, there must have been a sylvestris pine here in the past, and it is tall and dense and lush. Maybe it's a fire, a fire, that burns down the trees here, or maybe it's some other disaster that makes the pine sylvestris here cease to exist. Pinus sylvestris sylvestris is a proud evergreen tree in the Great Khing'an Mountains, which likes to grow on dry and barren mountain tops and sunny slopes, and can also be found in gravel and sand dune areas. Although the conditions in which it lives are very poor, it can grow extremely tall, and some of them are even more than 30 meters tall. Especially in winter, when the snow is shining, the tall and tall body gives the impression of being very clean and beautiful. I asked Lao Song, why didn't Jiagedaqi plant some new pines?

"In the past few years, there has been indiscriminate deforestation, and who still has the heart to plant trees?" he said. However, the tree of Pinus sylvestris sylvestris, although the living conditions are not high, but it is very characterful, it likes to be clean, and the sanitary conditions of Jiagedaqi are still very poor, the garbage can not be properly disposed of, the wind blows, the dust is flying, and the Pinus sylvestris var. sylvestris is unwilling to live in such an environment. However, these conditions will gradually improve. One day, Jiagedaqi will become a veritable place with pine sylvestris sylvestris. ”

In Jiagedaqi, I never saw the pine sylvestris sylvestris sylvestris and always had some regrets. However, this feeling quickly disappeared. Didn't I see a lot of people like Pinus sylvestris sylvestris here? Aren't Lao Song and his comrades who insist on working here and treat people with enthusiasm just pine sylvestris sylvestris trees?

Jiagedaqi is still a hearty, lush, and lush pine forest!
