At the previous Vision 2024, Intel announced that it would change the naming of the next generation of Xeon processors, and the upcoming sixth-generation Xeon processors will be named Xeon 6, including Sierra Forest with full E-Core design and Granite Rapids with full P-Core design, and the models and specifications of four Granite Rapids-AP processors have been revealed.

According to wccftech, these four models are Xeon 6980P, 6979P, 6972P and 6960P, with 128, 120, 96 and 72 cores respectively, these cores are all Redwood Cove, the same as the P-Cores used on the current Meteor Lake processors, these Xeon processors have a TDP of 500W, all belong to the Xeon Platinum series, and the specifications are as follows:

Xeon 6980P:128核 / 500W / 2.0~3.2GHz

Xeon 6979P:120核 / 500W / 2.1~3.2GHz

Xeon 6972P:96核 / 500W / 2.4~3.5GHz

Xeon 6960P:72核 / 500W / 2.7~3.8GHz

Considering that Intel's fifth-generation Xeon processor Emerald Rapids has only a maximum of 64 cores, Granite Rapids offers twice the number of cores, which is also on par with the maximum number of cores of AMD's EPYC Turin with Zen 5 architecture, which is also expected to have a maximum of 128 cores, while the Zen 5c architecture should have a maximum of 192 cores, which will be handed over to Sierra with a full E-Core design Forest, which has a whopping 288 cores.

The corresponding platform codename for the Xeon 6 processor is Birch Stream, where the SP chip will use the LGA 4710 slot, while the AP chip will use the larger LGA 7529 slot. Granite Rapids will be available in single- to 8-socket platforms for users to choose from, support up to 12 lanes of memory, provide 136 PCIe 5.0 lanes and support CXL 2.0, with a variety of different chip combinations, including single compute chips, dual compute chips, and up to three compute chip combinations, and Intel is expected to release a large number of SKUs, which will be launched after the release of Sierra Forest.
