According to Thai media news, at around 23:30 on the evening of April 17, an ammonia leak occurred at an ice factory in Nong Prue area, Bang Ramong District, Chonburi Province, Thailand, and spread within a radius of 1 km. Local people revealed that there was an explosion at the time of the incident, followed by thick smoke.
After the incident, officials from the local disaster prevention and mitigation department and Pattaya fire fighters immediately rushed to the scene to evacuate the crowd, and prohibited unrelated people from approaching within 1 km of the incident. After that, the rescuers sent the people who accidentally inhaled ammonia to nearby hospitals for treatment. The person in charge of the ice factory revealed that 10 employees of the factory were injured and that he would bear all the costs of treatment, including the villagers.
According to rescuers, 111 people were injured in the incident, and most of the symptoms were itchy throat and skin, burning eyes, etc. It is also understood that the situation has been brought under control and ammonia has been eliminated one after another.
