Maserati has unveiled its first all-electric convertible, named GranCabrio Folgore, which can be seen as an alternative to the GranTurismo Folgore, and the two models will share a large number of spare parts.
It is reported that the power system of the car uses three radial flux permanent magnet motors, each motor has its own silicon carbide inverter, two in the rear and one in the front. Each can support up to 300 kW of power, which means a theoretical peak output of 900 kW (1207 hp), but in practice it is not possible to provide the above data for a short period of time. Maserati claims a peak output of 610 kW (818 hp) in "MaxBoost" mode, while in standard operation, it delivers 552 kW (751 hp).
In addition, the battery of the new car is a T-shaped lithium-ion battery pack, which is located between and behind the passengers. This makes possible the classic proportions of the GranCabrio, which can be ruined by a thick floor-standing battery. The battery pack has a capacity of 92.5 kWh, but can only be used at 83 kWh. This means that Maserati is limiting the maximum charge voltage (and perhaps the minimum discharge voltage) per battery, which could extend the life of the entire battery pack. In terms of charging, 20% to 80% recovers in 18 minutes with 270kW fast charging.
Among other things, the car also comes with some interesting features, including paddles for adjusting energy recuperation, and a system that tells the driver when to regenerate and when to coast to maximize the car's usable range. In addition, the suspension of the car uses an independent suspension combination of front double wishbones and rear multi-link, and the sound system has up to 16 speakers, and the seat-mounted heater can blow to the neck of each passenger.
