Small fingerprints, two fingertips, mysterious. Searching for the truth in the vast fingerprints is like looking for a needle in a haystack, which seems boring to ordinary people. However, Li Yanping relied on tenacity and meticulousness to find the real culprit from the broken fingerprints and deduce legendary stories one after another.
In April 2000, a particularly vague blood fingerprint was extracted from the murder of Qingyang Bu. For more than 10 years, after many searches and comparisons by forensic technology police in various places, there are no results. Li Yanping rose to the challenge, and in the face of this one-centimeter-square blood fingerprint, she edited it hundreds of times. Painstakingly, she finally found that in the data information, the suspects who had been fingerprinted for other cases were consistent with the blood fingerprints at the scene of the murder in 2000. According to the clues provided by Li Yanping, a 20-year backlog of murder cases has finally been resolved.
With excellent skills and a flexible mind, she pursued the victory, summed up a variety of fingerprint practical application techniques, and showed her skills in a series of case-solving battles. More than 300 cases of various types have been cracked through direct fingerprint comparison, and she has also provided clues or key evidence for the investigation of many cases (incidents).

Forensic technology work is monotonous and repetitive, but Li Yanping has a deep love and indomitable faith, always sticks to it, accumulates bit by bit, and perseveres. She and her colleagues had insight into the details and found the clues left by the suspects, which cleared the fog and clouds of many difficult and complex cases that seemed to be "exhausted and doubtful", and made them ironclad evidence to lock up the suspects.
In March 2023, there were a number of burglary cases of climbing anti-theft windows in Lanzhou City, and the Chengguan Branch arrested the suspects in April after in-depth investigation. "I haven't done anything bad. "Even if I've been to the scene of the crime, you can't prove that I stole something!" Faced with the initial interrogation of the police handling the case, the cunning suspect pretended to be innocent and argued with the police. Although the police handling the case had a large amount of information, the suspect denied it in every possible way and refused to admit it. Because the suspect has a strong anti-reconnaissance ability, he wore gloves and hats to disguise himself throughout the crime, which brought great obstacles to the identification and collusion of the number of crimes. Just when the investigators were at a loss, Li Yanping and her colleagues compared and studied the information left at the scene one by one, analyzed and judged it in the laboratory for two days, and finally inspected and identified a number of cross-city theft cases, which provided a strong scientific basis for the smooth development of the final court proceedings.
Li Yanping has always adhered to the rigorous attitude of "zero error" and gave full play to the special functions of criminal technology in the boring and monotonous comparison of traces, the confusing crime scene, the determination of the direction of the investigation, the pressure of racing against time to solve the case, and the challenges head-on. She organized the province's criminal technology department to use traces and physical evidence to arrest more than 2,000 illegal and criminal personnel in the "theft and robbery" case. There were 121 and 312 cases of using footprints to merge cases. 687 cases were accepted for appraisal, and 542 appraisals were issued. She has completed and guided the proficiency testing examination of the provincial public security laboratory, and has achieved all "satisfactory" good results in the past 10 years.

At present, the form of crime is gradually developing towards networking, and traditional forensic technology is facing huge opportunities and challenges. In order to meet the work requirements of the transformation and upgrading of criminal technology, Li Yanping kept an eye on the frontier of science and technology, refined the sharp tools for solving cases, accumulated strength, and grew jointly.
She conducted in-depth investigations, devoted herself to research, and successfully developed mobile apps that are suitable for the actual work of our province. The project applied for participation in the 2019 criminal technology "Double Ten Plan" of the Ministry of Public Security, and stood out among more than 50 declared projects across the country. In 2020, the project was listed as the ninth task of the national forensic technology "Double Ten Plan", and it was applied online in the province, realizing the working model of the dual development of traditional + new means of forensic technology in our province. The research project led by her was successfully selected for the 2022 Natural Science Foundation of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology. At the same time, she actively participates in the research of various topics in the field of traces, and as a project member, she also participates in the scientific research work of the Natural Science Foundation of Gansu Province.
