As we all know, Myanmar is both one of the most chaotic countries in the world and one of the world's largest telecommunications dens. And on January 30 this year, the head of the largest fraud family in Myanmar, Bai Socheng, was finally arrested and handed over to the mainland.
Today, there is news in Myanmar that Aung Limtun, deputy defense minister of the Myanmar government, was arrested by the Myanmar side. The reason was that he was suspected of being involved in fraud.
As soon as this news came out, some people inevitably thought of Bai Socheng, who was transferred to the mainland in January this year, and suspected that Aung Linton's arrest was related to Bai Socheng.
So, what is the relationship between Aung Linton and Bai Suocheng, and is Aung Linton really the umbrella behind Bai Suocheng's fraud?
The mutiny of the white people
Bai Socheng was once a legend in Myanmar.
In 1950, Bai Socheng was born in Kokang, Myanmar. It seems that because he was born in Burma, where cunning and ferocity are the most basic logic of survival, in order to have a better future, Bai Socheng was born a little more treacherous than ordinary people.
Due to his poor family, Bai Suocheng did not go to school. But Bai Socheng's brain is very bright, and at a very young age, he knew that if he wanted to get ahead, he must be able to climb up by all means. Therefore, even if there is no culture, it does not prevent Bai Suocheng from climbing up. Because Bai Suocheng is a person who is very good at judging the situation.
After Bai grew up, he joined the Northeast Military Region. It is worth mentioning that this so-called Northeast Military Region is actually the northeastern region of Myanmar. And in the Northeast Military District, they are like fish in water. Dissatisfied with the Burmese government's measures, in 1965, Bai Socheng, Peng Jiasheng and others secretly established the "Kokang People's Revolutionary Army"
After years of development, Peng Jiasheng became the actual controller of Kokang, that is, the Kokang King as called by the outside world, and Bai Suocheng naturally became the No. 2 person.
In 1976, Chairman Mao died. The mainland began to adjust the pace of its advance, and as a result, those who had gone to Burma as military advisers were withdrawn to the mainland one after another. At the same time, due to the changing international situation, Myanmar has entered a situation where several forces are competing for resources.
The outbreak of war on a large scale and the retreat of the mainland made the already poor situation of Myanmar even worse. In 1978, Peng Jiasheng led Bai Socheng and others to set up Unit 404 to wage war with the Burmese army, in a vain attempt to get a piece of the pie in Myanmar.
The chaos in Myanmar lasted for more than a decade, and it was only in 1989 that Peng Jiasheng reached a truce with the Burmese army. It was also in this year that Bai Socheng became the deputy commander of the Allied Army. A year later, Bai began to work in Myanmar's political arena.
But Bai Suocheng followed the Peng family's voice, no matter what, Bai Suocheng is not a legitimate political insider. Because of his background, it is basically impossible for Bai Socheng to continue to cultivate in Myanmar politics. So, in some ways, it will be difficult for Baek to go further inside Myanmar.
Peng Jiasheng is not without finding a way to solve this dilemma, in order to save the precarious economy, Peng Jiasheng even began to ban drugs and prepare for the development of Zhengda. It's just that it doesn't work.
However, the days when Bai Suocheng followed Peng Jiasheng soon came to an end.
Although the Burmese government has called on residents in Kokang to ban drugs, Peng Jiasheng has not banned the drug trade. So in 2009, the August 8 incident broke out.
The Burmese army has always looked down on the Kokang Alliance. Therefore, in this year, the Burmese army clashed with Peng Jiasheng under the pretext of searching for drugs.
Because Peng Jiasheng's number of royal subordinates is not excellent. Because of the factor of interests, Peng Jiasheng's subordinates were not loyal to him, and so was Bai Suocheng.
After the outbreak of the 8.8 incident, Bai Socheng realized that this was a good opportunity to break away from Peng Jiasheng, so after Bai Socheng took the lead in betraying Peng Jiasheng. The rest of Peng Jiasheng's subordinates also betrayed him one after another.
After this incident, Bai Suocheng successfully became the number one person in the Kokang Autonomous Region. Representative Bai Socheng was able to negotiate with the Burmese government army, and finally reached an agreement with the Burmese government army. Bai Socheng took Peng Jiasheng's place.
The umbrella is useless
After Bai Suocheng became the chairman of Kokang, he openly created an image of an official close to the people for himself, but secretly, Bai Suocheng is the owner of the largest telecom fraud park in Kokang, Cangsheng Science and Technology Park.
Bai Socheng knows very well that he was able to become the actual controller of Kokang because he relied on his own defection to the Burmese authorities, and the Burmese authorities were able to support him because they wanted to ban drugs in the Kokang area, so it was basically impossible to continue to rely on drugs to maintain their rule in Kokang.
Bai Suo has become a defender of his image in Myanmar and has never participated in the activities of his Cangsheng Science and Technology Park. But this does not prevent Cangsheng Science and Technology Park from becoming the No. 1 fraud park in Kokang.
Bai Socheng sent all his sons and daughters to the Kokang Autonomous Region as officials. Bai Socheng's son not only served as the deputy director of the Kokang Finance Bureau, but also the captain of the Kokang militia brigade. In this way, Kokang is almost in vain.
And the suspected illegal activities of the Cangsheng Science and Technology Park are countless. Fraud is only the most trivial of these crimes.
According to the investigation, all the pornography, gambling and drugs in Cangsheng Science and Technology Park have been touched. What's even more terrifying is that Bai Suocheng even buys and sells people, and the people on the mainland are bought and sold.
This is why, after Bai was arrested in December 2023, he will be transferred to the mainland in January this year. Well, Bai Socheng was able to commit so many crimes. Is there a protective umbrella behind him? There must be a protective umbrella behind Bai Suocheng, and this is an ironclad fact.
Even if Peng Jiasheng is capable in the early stage, compared with the Myanmar government, Peng Jiasheng's power is still weaker. Therefore, after Bai Suocheng replaced Peng Jiasheng in the position, Bai Suocheng immediately found a backer for himself. This backer is Myanmar's Deputy Defense Minister Aung Lim Thun.
Aung Limton graduated from the Defence Service College in Myanmar. After the civil war in Myanmar stopped, Aung Linghton lived in the urban area of Lao Cai. As a result, Aung Limton has established deep ties with several major families in Kokang. And the connection between Bai Socheng and Aung Linton is the deepest.
As a person who has worked hard from the bottom, Bai Suocheng naturally understands how important it is to please his superiors. In Myanmar, it is also a custom in Myanmar to give gifts to Burmese military personnel in Lao Cai. Bai Suocheng took this custom to the extreme.
Relying on the wealth he obtained from fraudulent activities, Bai Socheng began to give away gold and silver in a big way, and Aung Linton naturally became the target of his wooing.
Aung Linton himself was not an upright person, so under the lure of Bai Socheng's money, he reached a relationship with Bai Socheng to help each other.
Aung Linton, through the financial support provided by Bai Socheng, has crawled very quickly in Myanmar's political arena. From division commander of the Burmese army to deputy defense minister, Aung Limton has risen faster than anyone can imagine.
Similarly, Bai Socheng also got a lot of benefits through Aung Linton. Not only is the Cangsheng Science and Technology Park under its name protected by high-ranking officials, but several of his sons have also successfully entered the Myanmar political arena through Aung Limton's connections, and what is even more incredible is that Bai Socheng's eldest son even became a member of the Shan State Assembly.
The Bai family can be said to be in full swing for a while. But the Bai family may have forgotten that water can carry a boat and can also capsize a boat. Under the continuous oppression of Bai Socheng and others, there were finally troops in Myanmar who were dissatisfied with the situation of Myanmar telecom fraudsters gathering together, and decisively launched the 1027 operation.
On October 27, 2023, Myanmar's Kokang Democratic Alliance Army (MDA) mutinied. They successively launched armed attacks in Lashio, Gui and other places in Myanmar.
The Democratic Alliance Army issued a statement that the main purpose of this operation is to crack down on the telecommunications fraud syndicates in Lao Cai, and to arrest several major families led by Bai Suocheng.
After Operation 1027 began, Bai Socheng and others did not pay too much attention to this matter, because they believed that they had the protection of high-ranking officials in Myanmar, and these allied forces could not do anything about them.
Indeed, as Bai Socheng and others expected, after the outbreak of Operation 1027, all the core members of several major fraud families in Kokang were sent by senior officials in Myanmar to helicopters and moved them to safe areas for protection.
However, the power of the Burmese masses is not as weak as Baek and others had predicted. Since the March Mutiny, the brave Allied Democratic Forces have been invincible along the way.
In November 2023, the Qingshui River, an important hub in Myanmar, fell, and all 92 government strongholds in Myanmar were captured by allied forces. On November 18, 2023, the Allied forces launched an attack on Kokang. But in December, with the mediation of the Chinese government, the allied forces reconciled with the Burmese government.
However, even if the allies reconciled with the Burmese military, Bai did not escape. Because in the month that the Chinese government mediated, the Dalian Public Security Bureau on the mainland issued a reward order for Bai Socheng. At the request of China, the protective umbrella of Bai Socheng and others was ineffective, and Bai Socheng and others were eventually arrested.
Although many high-ranking members of the Myanmar military have been bribed by Bai Socheng. However, before the major issues of right and wrong, the Burmese army still has a clear sense of priorities.
Change of government in Myanmar
It can be said that after China issued a statement to crack down on telecom fraud, the Burmese army was very cooperative. Even though the amount of money given to them by Bai Socheng was unmeasurable, the Burmese army handed over Pak to China after the Chinese offered him a reward.
And the rest of the people on the list, even if they are like Ming Xuechang, are already dead. The Burmese army did not fool China either, but handed over the bodies to China. Compared with the rest of the forces in Burma, the performance of the Burmese army is not outstanding.
Myanmar is a country that lives in the midst of war, and the war in Myanmar continued until the end of World War II. After the end of World War II, the war in Myanmar shows no signs of stopping.
In this situation, the people of Myanmar have no chance to live a stable life, and telecom fraud and drugs have become the fastest way to get money in Myanmar. The intertwining of several major forces has kept Myanmar in chaos for many years, and the government's crackdown on telecom fraud cannot make the major forces in Myanmar fearful.
Fortunately, China has a zero-tolerance approach to telecom fraud, and in recent years, China has worked with Myanmar to bring down a large part of the fraud syndicates in Myanmar. Especially in the past year, fraudsters in northern Myanmar have been almost completely eradicated.
At present, in Myanmar, there are very few telecom fraud syndicates left in the area controlled by the Burmese army. When the telecommunications fraud syndicates in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Burmese army are cleared up, it is believed that the telecommunications fraud syndicates in the remaining territories of the Burmese forces will also be uprooted one after another.
In this way, Myanmar will sooner or later become a stable country. In the future, telecom fraud will eventually disappear into the river of time. Myanmar will also change and become a devil's land that is no longer prohibitive.
Perhaps in the near future, Myanmar will really become a clear and clean place, where people can safely walk in the streets and alleys of northern Myanmar and enjoy the hot Yangon of Yangon, the capital of Myanmar.
