Xiaomi Auto and Porsche responded separately

Since the launch of Xiaomi SU7, there have been many rumors and controversies in terms of price, appearance, and deposit. In response to some of the disputes, Xiaomi and Porsche responded separately on April 15.

According to previous media reports, Citigroup recently released a research report to predict the delivery of Xiaomi's first automotive product, SU7. According to the report, deliveries of the Xiaomi SU7 are expected to reach 5,000 to 6,000 units in April, and deliveries for the full year are expected to be between 55,000 and 70,000 units.

According to Citi's forecast, Xiaomi will lose an average of 6,800 yuan for every SU7 car sold in 2024, and the entire car-making business is expected to lose as much as 4.1 billion yuan. This data reflects the financial pressure faced by Xiaomi when it first entered the automotive market.

The report also introduced that the current Xiaomi SU7 delivery time has been extended to 6 months, and if it cannot effectively increase production capacity to meet market demand, Xiaomi may face similar growth problems as last year's Xpeng G6.

Regarding this report, on April 15, Xu Jieyun, special assistant to the chairman of Xiaomi Group and deputy general manager of the China marketing department, responded: "This information may be quite biased. Understand, the report of Citi Auto analysts is from April 2, and the sales boom of Xiaomi SU7 may be underestimated. Over the past few weeks, we have continued to increase our orders and we are working hard to increase our delivery capacity. ”

According to Xiaomi's official news, Xiaomi Auto officially broke 10,000 units 4 minutes later, 20,000 in 7 minutes, and 88,898 units 24 hours later.

In response to the controversy over the appearance, Michael Kirsch, president and CEO of Porsche China, responded to the Xiaomi SU7, which was jokingly called "Mische" by netizens.

"As for the similarities between the Xiaomi SU7 and the Porsche, I think maybe a good design is always in mind. For the past 75 years, Porsche has been innovating and following manufacturing standards to build brand recognition, says Kirsmeier. Porsche looks forward to fair and healthy competition with companies that are willing to adhere to the same or higher standards.

Porsche said that Porsche is pleased to see that electric vehicle products pay more attention to handling and performance, and consumers can also have a more dimensional understanding of the vehicle in addition to transportation. "Porsche is a true sports car brand, and we have always emphasized 'Iconic Porsche Performance', which is a systematic R&D innovation rather than a one-dimensional product performance. ”

It is worth mentioning that Lei Jun, the founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi, has also previously reposted a related video saying that "Xiaomi SU7 is a replacement for Porsche".
