The post-90s returned to their hometowns to start a young man, Purui: let the hometown citrus go abroad

Recently, the all-media reporter of Yuxi Daily came to Huaning Duoluo Fruit and Vegetable Farmers Professional Cooperative located in Xiaozhai Village, Huaxi Town, Huaning County for an interview. Purui in front of him, dressed in a black shirt, spoke in an orderly manner, and on the display shelf behind him, various types of fruit packaging boxes were displayed, and several brands such as the provincial demonstration society of farmers' cooperatives and the small and medium-sized science and technology enterprises in Yunnan Province were placed.

Dream big

From working outside the home to returning to start a business

Purui was born in 1990 in the soybean field group of Xiaozhai Village, Huaxi Town, which was once a poor local village. In 2006, after graduating from junior high school, Puri returned home to grow citrus, but the citrus grown at that time was not sweet enough and did not sell well. In 2009, when he saw the backwardness of his hometown and the lack of a market for the citrus industry, he went to a fruit shop in Beijing to help sell fruit. "I chose to work in the fruit shop, in fact, I also want to accumulate experience, and I still want to go back to my hometown for development. Prih said.

During the seven or eight years of working abroad, Purui accumulated a lot of resources and contacts, and slowly tried to start fruit wholesale, and also wholesaled citrus from his hometown to Beijing for sale, but unfortunately failed the first time. "At that time, my friends in my hometown and I raised more than 100,000 yuan and transported 3 truckloads of citrus to Beijing, but due to low quality and poor packaging, all of them were crushed during the transportation process, and we lost 70,000 or 80,000 yuan. Recalling the early experience of the business, Prih remembers it vividly.

Since then, Puri has humbly learned from the fruit merchants around him, learned from the advanced management technology and transportation technology, and made friends with fruit merchants all over the country. In 2017, he resolutely returned to his hometown Huaning to start a business and established Huaning Duoluo Fruit and Vegetable Farmers Professional Cooperative. Later, under the guidance and assistance of human resources and social security departments at all levels, Purui received 1 million yuan of subsidized loans for small and micro enterprises to start businesses.

Hard work

Let Huaning citrus go abroad

"After years of development, the citrus industry in my hometown has been formed, but the standard and quality need to be improved, and the formation of professional farmer cooperatives is the key to solving the problem. At first, the farmers didn't trust him, thinking that the hairy guys in their 20s couldn't do big things, Puri said. To this end, he set up an agricultural materials service center, and the cooperative's members' annual agricultural material expenses are borne by the cooperative in advance, and the fruit is sold before settling the bill. At the same time, he also hires experts to train the growers in technology. In this way, 587 fruit farmers in the town became members of the cooperative, and unified planting standards, unified agricultural material supply, and unified picking standards were implemented.

"Every year, only the cost of agricultural materials needs about 20 million yuan, I personally advance 5 million yuan, and the rest of the agreement with agricultural suppliers, and then settle the bill after the fruit is sold. According to Purui, this is all the experience he learned from working outside.

The post-90s returned to their hometowns to start a young man, Purui: let the hometown citrus go abroad

On both sides of the road leading to the cooperative, you can see roadside signs everywhere that read "Buying Fruit with Leaves", which is the "true scripture" that Prius takes out to pick up. In 2017, Purui went to Hubei to investigate how local oranges went abroad, and he followed him from Hubei to Manzhouli port. At the port of Manzhouli, Prih got acquainted with a Russian businessman, and during the exchange, the other party mentioned fresh fruit picking, that is, fruit with leaves, so that the freshness can be seen, and the export price is also high.

"In the past, the traditional picking was 'bald fruit', but the first thing to solve when it was changed to a fruit with leaves was to keep it fresh. After coming back, Prih began to study making leaves with leaves. To this end, he invested more than 1.8 million yuan to build 10 5,000 cubic meters of cold storage, after the fruit is picked back in the cold storage first cooled, and then through the cold chain transportation. It is also this "learning from experience" road that allows Huaning citrus to go abroad for the first time.

"The first car with leaf fruit was sent to Moscow, Russia in the form of cold chain logistics, and the whole process took 25 days. "Purui calculated an account for the all-media reporter of Yuxi Daily, and after the implementation of cold chain transportation, citrus can be sold abroad, and the unit price can be doubled. In the past, a car of 25 tons of citrus could only be sold for more than 30,000 yuan locally, but after the cold chain transportation was exported, it could be sold for 65,000 yuan. Since then, the entire Huaning citrus industry has followed this model, implementing leafy fruit picking and cold chain transportation.

In order to make citrus better go abroad, after 2018, Prim changed its products from primary processing to fine processing, and more than 3 million fruit baskets are needed every year. In the past, fruit baskets were purchased from Maitreya, Kunming and other places, and a fruit basket of 8 yuan was also a large expense every year. To this end, Purui established Huaning Yundian Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. to carry out plastic product packaging processing, import and export trade, etc., and only fruit baskets can save two or three million yuan a year. This year, Prih has increased the number of fruit basket making machines from 10 to 30, which can meet the needs of local fruit farmers and foreign merchants in addition to their own use.

After years of hard work, Purui has been rated as a provincial leader and a top ten entrepreneurial youth at the municipal level, and the cooperatives and companies under its name have been rated as provincial demonstration cooperatives and municipal leading enterprises respectively.

Don't forget the original intention

Lead the masses to get rich together

In Purui's view, he is not capable of being rich, and leading more people to get rich is his original intention to return to his hometown to start a business. After the establishment of professional farmer cooperatives, Purui not only recruited local orange farmers to join the cooperative, but also recruited orange farmers from neighboring Jianshui County and Tonghai County to join the cooperatives with the model of "company + cooperative + party branch + farmer".

In order to increase the income of orange farmers, Purui contacts merchants from all over the country to purchase citrus locally, and the supermarket sends buyers to purchase citrus directly from farmers, which can increase the income of citrus farmers by about 1 yuan per kilogram. At the same time, he actively applied for citrus export certification, and has now certified 6,000 acres, increasing the income of growers by more than 10,000 yuan per mu. In 2023, the cooperative will absorb 11 poverty alleviation laborers for stable employment, and will be recognized as a support workshop in Yuxi City by the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

Nowadays, during the citrus harvest period from July to November every year, Purui has to recruit more than 1,000 migrant workers, which not only solves the employment problem of local surplus labor, but also allows the masses to achieve employment at their doorsteps. After the local picking season, Purui also took a permanent labor team composed of 167 people to Guangxi, Hainan and other places to carry out plastic basket making, fruit sorting, packaging, sales and other businesses, with an average annual income of more than 60,000 yuan. In March 2024, Purui was recommended by the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau to participate in the Top Ten Typical Labor Service Brand Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Yunnan Province.

In the early days of returning to his hometown to start a business, Purui was also elected as the leader of the soybean field. In order to change the backward appearance of the village and the "dirty and messy" environment, Purui mobilized everyone to demolish the old houses and build a new village, and finally 69 households demolished the old houses by themselves, vacating nearly 12,000 square meters of land. Nowadays, the once congested and congested village roads have become orderly through planning, and every household has lived in new buildings, and a science and technology cultural activity room has been built, so that the masses have a venue for cultural and entertainment activities.

Purui also integrated resources and invested 5 million yuan to implement the integrated leisure project of agriculture and tourism near the cooperative, which is a pastoral complex integrating entertainment and sightseeing, citrus picking, homestay, self-service barbecue, leisure fishing, etc., which solves the accommodation problem for foreign merchants and boosts rural revitalization.

If you have a heart, why travel far. As long as the footsteps are diligent and keep chasing, there are poems and distances in the hometown. In 2024, Purui will invest more than 40 million yuan to build a new citrus industrial park covering an area of more than 30,000 square meters, and 20 100-ton cold storages will be built in the park, in the way of "leading enterprises + village collectives + bases + cooperatives + farmers", to realize the supporting operation of the whole industrial chain of fine and rough processing, so that Huaning citrus will go further and further.
