Advanced sensors help the innovation and development of intelligent driving safety, digital intelligent medical care and industrial Internet of Things

According to the Digital China Development Report (2022) issued by the Cyberspace Administration of China, the scale of China's digital economy reached 50.2 trillion yuan in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 10.3%, and its proportion of GDP increased to 41.5%. The digital economy has become a major engine driving China's economic growth. BW Tan, General Manager, Sales & Marketing, Asia Pacific, TE Sensors, said: "Digitalization has become an important support for the development of new quality productivity. The first element of digitalization is access to information. As the core technology connecting the physical and digital worlds, sensors have become the starting point for various industries to achieve digitalization and intelligence. He introduced that TE adheres to the three value propositions of innovation, integration and intelligence, and is committed to creating innovative sensor solutions with high accuracy, high reliability, high performance and high quality. At present, TE's solutions have been widely used in intelligent transportation, industrial Internet, medical equipment and other industries, covering key applications such as electronic braking, electric powertrain, industrial condition monitoring, and minimally invasive medical care, helping various industries accelerate digital innovation and development and promote the construction of a digital China.

A full set of brake-by-wire sensor solutions to build a safe fortress for intelligent driving

"Intelligent braking system" is the key to realizing advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving technology, and sensors, as the infrastructure for the intelligent development of automobiles, are also the core components of "intelligent braking system". In this exhibition, TE brought a series of brake-by-wire sensor solutions around the core needs of "intelligent braking system", including brake-by-wire pressure sensors, position travel sensors, motor angle position sensors, etc.

Among them, for the field of automotive safety technology, TE has launched a product that can be applied to ABS (automotive anti-lock braking system), ESC (automotive electronic stability control system) and intelligent integrated braking system - HPS brake high-voltage sensor. The sensor uses glass micro-melt strain gauge technology to provide high pressure and burst pressure performance, as well as a high range and high overload capacity to ensure reliable measurements under harsh conditions. Its built-in SENT bus interface provides fast and accurate data transmission capabilities, which can help the braking system respond more intelligently to unexpected situations and enhance active safety features. In addition, the HPS brake high pressure sensor has a diameter of only 7.8 mm, and its ultra-small size not only makes it easy to install, but also provides more flexibility and freedom of adjustment in a compact design. Its safety standards up to ASIL C (D) provide further security.

"Minimally invasive + in vitro diagnosis" equipment sensors help digital precision diagnosis and treatment

"Digital intelligent medicine" is also inseparable from the help of sensors. As the digital "eyes and ears" of medical staff, sensors provide important guarantees for diagnosis and treatment and monitoring by "sensing" accurate data. The two high-precision sensors exhibited by TE for minimally invasive surgery and in vitro diagnostics are very representative.

Developed specifically for minimally invasive surgery, TE's IntraSense miniature invasive pressure sensors offer miniaturization, high accuracy, biocompatibility, and photosensitivity resistance and can be installed into the smallest catheters and needles on the market, as small as 1FR catheters. IntraSense uses resistive MEMS technology and encapsulated wire/gasket headers for flexible integration into the tip or side of catheters and needles, as well as an optional light shield that makes it four times more photosensitive and maintains high accuracy even in body cavity lighting environments. IntraSense can not only add pressure monitoring capabilities to medical devices (e.g., catheters) without changing the size of existing devices, perform real-time patient monitoring, provide physicians with clinical data information to support accurate clinical treatment decisions, but also support precision diagnosis and remote monitoring through integration with digital technologies such as 3D visualization technology and the Internet of Things.

In the field of in vitro diagnostics (IVD), TE has introduced 85F stainless steel isolated flush membrane pressure sensors that meet the needs of high hygiene standards and accurate monitoring. Housed in a 316L stainless steel housing, the product features a small recessed and flush diaphragm design that eliminates voids in contact with the media and prevents foreign material from carrying. The sensor also has the characteristics of TE products that can withstand the harsh environments: high temperature resistance, shock resistance, high vibration resistance, long-term stability, and especially the output of advanced signals such as compensated analog mV signals and high-precision digital I2C to ensure accuracy in variable and demanding test environments, and can be used in a wide range of applications such as clinical diagnostics, chemical processing, and food monitoring. (Note: The sensor product itself is not a medical device.) )

Join hands with Avnet to accelerate the implementation of industrial IoT applications

With favorable policies and the acceleration of 5G commercialization, the Industrial Internet of Things is being implemented on a large scale in various industries. As the "eyes, ears, nose and tongue" of industrial equipment, sensors are considered to be the foundation and core of the industrial Internet of Things - sensors collect all kinds of data information in the external environment and equipment, and then hand over the data to the Internet of Things, cloud computing, AI and machine learning for analysis and processing, so as to promote the application of data in a wider range, wider field and deeper level.

"Sensors are in the perception layer of the Internet of Things, and they need to develop together with the network layer, application layer and other related technologies in order to empower various industries. BW Tan pointed out that only with the joint help of hardware, software, cloud, algorithms, etc., can the application of industrial IoT be more comprehensively and deeply promoted, so as to accelerate the process of digitalization. At this exhibition, TE joined hands with Avnet, the world's leading provider of electronic component distribution and technology solutions, to jointly bring industrial control solutions covering multiple fields such as the Internet of Things, edge computing, and visual AI.

For example, in response to the demand for Wi-Fi wireless connectivity, TE and Avnet have launched antenna solutions for Wi-Fi advanced technology applications, which have significantly improved the connection experience in terms of data rate, network coverage, transmission channels, etc., and the advanced bandwidth and powerful radio frequency (RF) performance provided by TE can also optimize the transmission throughput and further enhance network performance.
