For the much-criticized issue of automatic renewal, the "Regulations on the Implementation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Consumer Rights and Interests" promulgated on March 19 make clear regulations, stipulating that if an operator provides services by means of automatic extension and automatic renewal, it shall be before the consumer accepts the service and the automatic extension. The regulations will come into force on July 1, 2024. It is reported that the Xiaomi App Store has launched new regulations on the issue of APP automatic renewal, which have been officially implemented from today.
As you can see in the figure above, the Xiaomi App Store's "Standard for the New Auto-Renewal Function" was announced last month, and it will be officially implemented from today. Before the user activates the service, the (application) shall inform the user of the service content, the amount and method of deduction in a conspicuous manner and in clear and understandable language.
The picture above shows the current auto-renewal service statement on iQIYI's PC, and all major APPs and related app stores should have rectifications. In addition, the new regulations of the Xiaomi App Store require that the auto-renewal agreement of the app clearly states the ways and methods of canceling the auto-renewal function, and provides a convenient way to unsubscribe during the auto-renewal service. The auto-renewal agreement of the app must clearly state that the user will be notified of the service content and the amount of deduction in a conspicuous manner such as SMS or message push 5 days before the auto-renewal.
