The Old Midleton Distillery (OMD) was once Ireland's oldest whisky distillery, founded in 1825 and closed in 1975. In 1992, the OMD site was converted into the Jameson Experience, Midleton. Currently, the Jameson Experience Centre and the original spirits in stock prior to the closure of OMD are owned by Irish Distillers, a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard.
On 18 February 2020, the Irish Distilling Group announced the launch of a new single malt whisky collection, the Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Collection (MVRSDC), under its Midleton Very Rare (MVR) whisky brand. All of the original spirits in this series are derived from malt whisky distilled before OMD closed and were created by Max Crockett, OMD's Chief Distiller at the time. According to the Irish Distilling Group, MVRSDC is the oldest whisky series in Irish history, running from 2020 to 2025, and will launch one wine per year, and the age of the wine will also extend from 45 years to the last 50 years, with a total of six spirits planned, and four have been launched before.
On April 11, 2024, the Irish Distilling Group released the fifth liquor in the MVRSDC series, Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Chapter Five, which was distilled in 1973 in American ex-bourbon barrel number 52969 barrel (the type of barrel matured before barrel is unknown), the age of the wine is 49 years, the alcohol content is 52.4% ABV, the volume is 700ml (750ml in the American version), and the number of bottles is unknown.

Smell:
At first smell, the fruity aroma is delicate, first peach, apricot and jujube are intertwined. Frosted almonds, old leather and aged oak are layered. Rich, sweet syrup toffee, vanilla essence and heather nectar blend harmoniously with earthy forest notes and hints of white pepper, which linger quietly in the background;
Tasting:
The first thing you get on the palate is a fresh citrus fruity flavour that is accentuated by the warm and silky texture of the pot distilled whisky. Woody flavours are then released with hints of herbal tea and dark chocolate, while spices such as fennel and ginger blend perfectly with the sweetness of salted caramel and toffee apples.
Olin:
Very long, decades of maturation give the flavor a rich and rich flavor. As the oak fades, the spice and fruitiness of the pot distilled whisky becomes the final leitmotif.
The wine is now available for sale in Ireland, Northern Ireland, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Austria, Australia, China (including Hong Kong), the Persian Gulf, Singapore, global travel retail channels and the House of the Irish Distilling Group, with an official suggested retail price of 55,000 euros, or about 425,250 yuan at the current exchange rate.
