Plum blossoms, elegant and vulgar, not afraid of the cold, are considered to be the embodiment of steadfastness and nobility. The people of the mainland often use the natural image of plum blossoms to symbolize a noble character of being proud of snow and winter, and contempt for all hardships and hardships, and also symbolizing the indomitable spirit of the Chinese nation.
The following is a simple tutorial on how to draw plum blossoms:
1. Preparation tools: pencils, sheep's hair, rice paper or cooked xuan, ink, inkstone, Chinese painting pigments (beginners can use the pigments in tubes), glue and alum, painting felt, pen washing, palette disc, etc.
2. Drawing steps:
1. Draft: Use a pencil to draw a draft of the plum blossom on paper, which doesn't need to be too detailed.
2. Tracing: Place the draft on the copy table, cover it with a thin layer of rice paper, and use a pencil to hook the sketch on the rice paper.
3. Rendering: Use ink to express the brightness and darkness of the picture, use two larger pens, one dipped in ink and one dipped in water, point the ink first, and render with water before the ink dries, creating a natural transition.
4. Dyeing: Dyeing with Chinese painting pigments is a relatively complicated step. In order to achieve a uniform and thick color effect, multiple dyes may be required.
5. Sketching: During the rendering and coloring process, the original lines may be overwritten by color, and you need to re-draw the lines.
Here are the steps for two demonstrations:
Demonstration Work 1:
Step 1 and 2: Heavy ink hook bamboo leaves, the lines are slightly thicker, medium ink dry pen hook branches, light ink hook flowers, the lines are slightly thinner. The flower head is dotted with eosin at the root of the petal, and another pen is dipped in thick white powder from the tip of the petal to the root, and the eosin touches. The cyan dyes the bamboo leaves.
Steps 3 & 4: Dye the flower heads with eosin and rouge, paint the branches with grass green, dye the branches with ochre ink, and dye the background and snow with light green ink.
Step 5: Hook the filaments with thick white powder, play snowflakes, garcinia cambogia and white dotted stamens, and hook the leaf veins of the bamboo with green grass.
Demonstration Work 2:
Step 1: Hook the flower head with light ink, hook the leaves with heavy ink, and hook the stem with a dry pen in medium ink.
Step 2 and 3: Light eosin and vermilion are used to dye plum blossoms, cyanine is dyed to bamboo leaves, and light ochre is applied to the branches. Dye the petal edges with eosin.
Step 4 & 5: Use cyan, garcinia cambogia, rouge, and ochre to make a dark green flat painting and splash the water while it is wet. White powder dyes the edges of the petals. Stone green with rouge coated bamboo leaves. Hook the filaments with thick white powder, and add white dotted stamens with Garcinia cambogia.
Follow the above steps to paint, and you will be able to draw a beautiful plum blossom painting. The steadfast and noble image of the plum blossom can also be conveyed to the viewer through the brush.
