The wonderful fate of medicine and painting
Yin Hexiang founded Hexiang Pain Specialist Hospital in Jincheng for almost 30 years. Although there have been tinkering and continuous improvements in hardware and software facilities, the hospital as a whole has not changed much.
The painter Cui Yu was diligent in calligraphy and painting when he was in Gaoping, and later came to work in the Jincheng Painting and Calligraphy Institute, during which he also studied for graduate school, apprenticed to further study and art, and has now become a member of the Sino-American Association. Cui Yu's family is a "family of painters" I met when I was working in a news unit, and I met them when I was interviewing in Gaoping, and after more than 20 years, I got closer and closer, and my interactions with them also made the context of a "family of calligraphy and painting" gradually clear in my mind.
This acquaintance took a turn after a grand exhibition of Cui Yu's father, Cui Mandou, in 2010. In May of that year, Cui Mandou's personal calligraphy and painting exhibition was exhibited in the newly completed Gaoping Third Museum, which became a major event in the local cultural circle.
In this process, Cui Yu's elder brother Cui Yang, Cui Yu and some calligraphers and painters of the same age in Gao Ping also began to make art exhibitions, displaying the works of art that they had painstakingly managed for many years.
Cui Yu graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Shanxi Normal University, and after joining the workforce, he returned to campus to study literature and obtain a master's degree in literature. He has successively become a member of the Shanxi Art Association, an executive director of the Jincheng Artists Association, a full-time painter of the Jincheng Painting and Calligraphy Institute, and in recent years, he has been promoted to a member of the China-America Association. From the perspective of family inheritance alone, Cui Yu's calligraphy and painting are undoubtedly the highest attainments, and they have persisted for a longer time and become his lifelong career.
