On April 11, the new product launch conference of Aurora Cloud Energy's "Smart Energy Storage, New Aurora" was successfully held at Beijing Shougang Convention and Exhibition Center. A group of industry experts, partners and media representatives were invited to attend and witness the moment. Dr. Huang Bin, co-founder & CTO of Aurora Cloud Energy, gave an overall interpretation of the design and innovation concept of the next-generation energy storage solutions and products released this time.
With the large-scale development of industrial and commercial energy storage, energy storage products are alternating and rapidly changing. At present, industrial and commercial energy storage has undergone two generations of evolution, the first generation from lead-acid to lithium-ion, bringing a decrease in cost and an increase in capacity. The second generation from separation to integration is aimed at the current industrial and commercial scenarios. In the future, the third-generation energy storage will face a series of problems and challenges such as large-scale deployment in complex environments and safe and stable long-term operation: the first is the security challenge of the site, the second is higher requirements for adaptation scenarios, and the third is the inefficiency of passive operation and maintenance, which is a consensus of industry experts. In this context, it is the general trend to develop multi-technology integration, automation, and intelligent energy storage.
First, the risk of power stations is mainly the risk of thermal runaway, and passively monitored thermal runaway faults will cause economic losses and casualties. If the aging equipment relies on manual operation and maintenance inspection, it will lead to equipment failure and deactivation, and at worst, it will also lead to equipment damage. At present, most of the industrial and commercial energy storage is outdoors, so in some extreme situations and extreme weather, there may be some risks in the operation of the equipment, so passive energy storage equipment needs to be transformed to active.
Second, the future power grid needs intelligent support. Aurora Cloud Energy has discussed with many overseas experts that the proportion of clean energy in Nordic countries has reached 80%, but the grid frame of the power grid is not strong enough, resulting in poor balance of the power grid and an imbalance between supply and demand. In this application scenario, carbon reduction is a trend, and a more stable energy path is needed. At the same time, the special scenarios of various industries also have specific requirements for energy storage, such as the semiconductor industry and the petrochemical industry, which have different requirements for energy storage, so the energy storage system must have fast power response and adaptability under additional strength.
Third, the current status quo of industrial and commercial energy storage is that the projects are relatively scattered, the products involve a wide range of technical fields, and the untimely response of passive services will affect the customer's revenue.
At this press conference, Aurora Cloud Energy brought the next generation of energy storage solutions in the face of industry trends: full-stack self-developed active virtual power plant dedicated energy storage. The Ji'an energy storage system is continuously tackled by the Aurora Cloud Energy R&D team and the laboratory of Tongji University, and the accuracy of the prediction algorithm has reached the industry-leading level. The products include Ji'an liquid-cooled containerized energy storage system and Ji'an liquid-cooled integrated cabinet, which have the characteristics of extremely low latency, extreme safety, active adaptation, and support for OTA upgrade (3 poles), which can meet the strict requirements of various power grid auxiliary services and the differentiated needs of diversified scenarios.
◆ Extremely low latency - Combined with the new communication architecture, the internal communication delay < 600ms, which is 80% lower than the traditional one, and can meet the strict requirements of various power grid auxiliary services.
◆ Ultimate safety - safety is the bottom line, cloud active monitoring and control to the cell level, full-cycle management, 7 days in advance to predict the state, 4 hours in advance.
◆ Active adaptation - actively respond to and support the power grid, improve the power reliability of a semiconductor customer by an order of magnitude, extend the backup time from 15min to 5h, and reduce the LCOE of the whole life cycle by 50%.
Jihui Cloud, which focuses on AI native, cloud BMS management and prediction, and unmanned operation and maintenance, is another major innovation of Aurora Cloud Energy. Jihui Cloud empowers VPP self-operation, transaction model self-generation, microgrid coordination and control algorithm self-balancing through AI, builds a true three-layer security architecture through battery + terminal BMS + cloud BMS, and realizes real unmanned operation and maintenance (3 truth) through a safe and reliable integrated operation and maintenance management platform for wind, solar, storage and load.
◆ Really AI native. Aurora Cloud can set up a basic model, which is equivalent to a student from primary school to junior high school to high school graduation, and then input the professional knowledge of power electronic systems on the basic large model to form a professional model of multidisciplinary integration, and then according to the previous transaction experience algorithm, it will become a technical expert, which can independently calculate the cost of the investment and operation transaction model of virtual power plants. At the same time, AI also has a feature called thousands of people, when a customer has a conversation with AI, AI will record his problem, and finally form an exclusive page for the customer.
◆ True three-layer security architecture. At present, the mainstream practice is that battery manufacturers and EMS cooperate with each other to ensure the safety of batteries. In order to truly make the battery system reliable, it is necessary to use a three-layer architecture, and Aurora Cloud can use cloud BMS and end BMS to complement each other, which can improve the safety of battery PACK to 99.99%, and if the lithium battery has thermal runaway in the future, it can be nipped in the bud.
◆ Really unmanned O&M. From the data level, it should be safe and reliable, the whole process should be encrypted, from the service level, it should be able to command 100% and never drop, and from the perspective of battery cells, it should be able to predict faults and automatically isolate OTA upgrades. To put it simply, it is to achieve automatic inspection, automatic prediction, automatic diagnosis, automatic isolation and automatic recovery.
