April 8-14, 2024 is the first "Schistosomiasis Control Publicity Week" in mainland China, and this year's theme is "Inheriting the Spirit of Blood Prevention and Accelerating the Process of Elimination". On April 11, the Ningxiang Municipal Health Bureau, the Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Batang Town Health Center jointly launched the 2024 "Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control Publicity Week" theme publicity volunteer service activity in Jinhe Village, Batang Town.
Schistosomiasis prevention and control is a major event related to the national economy and people's livelihood and social stability, after the unremitting efforts of several generations of blood prevention people, our city has not had local infected patients and sick animals since 1980, and has reached the standard of eliminating schistosomiasis by 2020, but there are still residual snails in our city, and the snail breeding environment is complex, and there is still a risk of snail surface expansion. The growth of livestock has also brought certain pressure to the city's blood prevention work, strengthen the management of foreign personnel, increase the monitoring of cattle and sheep in foreign epidemic areas, work together, focus on prevention, and combine prevention and control to control the spread of the epidemic from the source.
At the event, the chronic disease technicians of the Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention explained in detail to local residents what schistosomiasis is, the source of infection, transmission routes, preventive measures and other health knowledge.
The organizers also organized a variety of forms such as quizzes with prizes, health science videos, distribution of promotional materials, and publicity vehicles, so that residents could have a deeper understanding of schistosomiasis prevention and control. At the same time, the free clinic service team of Batang Town Health Center carried out health consultation, free clinic and other services for the people who came to participate in the activities in an orderly manner.
The schistosomiasis prevention and control theme publicity activity not only improved the awareness rate of residents on schistosomiasis control, but also enhanced everyone's enthusiasm and initiative to maintain a healthy home and participate in schistosomiasis control. In the next step, the city will continue to carry out a series of health education activities to contribute to the continuous construction of a happy and healthy Ningxiang.
