Yao Yan is a national senior photographer, deputy secretary-general of the China Aerial Photography Association, vice chairman of the Hakka Branch, executive director of the China Folk Photography Association, a member of the China Photographers Association, and a member of the China Photography Copyright Association.

Yao Yan has been studying photography since 1977, from black and white photos to color photos, from film cameras to digital cameras, with the development of science and technology, photography technology has also been improved, and she has become proficient in the use of digital cameras, aerial drones and post-production. Since falling in love with photography, he has made certain achievements in the past few decades, and more than 500 works have won awards in national, provincial, municipal and county photography competitions. In order to promote the local scenery and cultural customs, he has published more than 300 photos of himself in Yangcheng Evening News, Meizhou Daily and China Tourism Daily in Hong Kong since 2003. In the "Popular Photography Forum", the "China Folk Photography Forum" publicized more than 10,000 pictures of local scenery and folk customs.

In 2011, I formed the Hakka detachment of Chinese folk photography and served as the team leader. Over the past few years, more than 300 members have been developed, which has led to the creation and promotion of Hakka folk customs in Guangdong, Jiangxi and Fujian. In 2021, he founded the Pingyuan County Folk Photographers Association, and was elected as the first president. Because of my diligence and dedication to folk photography, I am now a director of the China Folk Photography Association.
